"What do you mean De- Doctora Mendoza has passed me over to another doctor? Why?"

"Sir, hindi ko po talaga alam kung bakit. 'Yon lang po ang sabi sa'kin."

"Is she here?"

"Yes she is."

And with that he was off. He walked straight towards her office even though the nurse kept telling him that she was in the middle of seeing another patient.

The door bursts open, making Dei, a little boy, and his mother jump.

"Dei, bakit mo ako tinransfer sa ibang doctor?" he errupted, disregarding the others that were hearing him.

"Alden, not right now," she said through gritted teeth as she walked up to him and gripped his arm.

"Dei, bakit?" he said his voice breaking.

"Alden, 'wag kang OA. I'll explain everything later. Tinatakot mo 'yong bata," Dei continued to explain.

To this he peeked over her shoulder, and saw the mother now holding her son tight.

"Sorry," he apologizes to them. "Mamaya ah?" he proceeded to tell Dei.

A few minutes pass and the little boy ends up walking outside of the room. He sits on the seat beside Alden's. Alden was looking straight ahead and so he didn't notice how the boy was examining him intently.

"May sakit ka din?"  the boy asks, startling Alden out of his daze.

"Ha?"

"May sakit ka din?" the boy repeats.

"Oo."

"Anong sakit mo?"

"Cancer."

"Parehas tayo," the boy says. "Tapos si Mama, ayun. Nag-cry sa loob. 'Di ko alam kung bakit. Kuya, bakit siya nag-cry?"

He didn't exactly know how to tell him. This kid probably doesn't even know the gravity of his illness.

"Sad lang siguro siya dahil may sakit ka."

"Ahhh, okay. Kung ganon, edi dapat magpagaling na ako agad-agad."

"Yup."

"Yup. Kasi, kailangan kong maging strong para kay Mama. Wala na kasi si Papa eh. Sabi ni Papa sa'kin, bago siya mawala, take care of Mama daw."

And again, he was rendered speechless. He just continued to stare at the eyes of this innocent child.

"Love mo ba si Doctora?" the boy randomly questions, starling him again.

"A-Ano?" he asks, unbelieving the words of the boy.

"Tanong ko, love mo ba si Doc Ganda?" he asks with a toothy grin.

"Bakit mo naman ako tinatanong ng ganiyan?"

"Kasi, pareho kayo ng tingin ni Papa ko, kay Mama ko," says the kid who started to giggle at the memory that passed him. "Mas gusto kita kaysa kay Doc Sungit. Sabi ni Doc Sungit love niya daw si Doc Ganda. Yuck," he explains, darting his tongue out to emphasise his point.
