When I said "I love you" they weren't just words
I made a promise out of them
Wrote in the margins of each letter
Jotted down a contract between the lines and over them
With the ink of my soul I signed on the dotted lineWhen I said "I love you" it meant I wanted to stick around
I meant that even when I didn't like you, I would still love you
Even if the butterflies had lost their flutter, I would still be there
I would still love you, no matter whatWhen I said "I love you" I meant it
And even if that means that I will write my love for another on my skin
Even if I type out a new fondness for someone else
Even if we are no longer in each other's pull of gravity
It means that I will still care about you
No matter what you do
Because I said "I love You"
And that's not something I take lightly
