A lot of people go on and on that being alone is horrible, but I actually enjoy it. It gave me the freedom to dance around and do whatever I wanted. Dancing on the beach, as cheesy as it might sound, is one of my favorite things. I love the feeling of the sand under my feet; it's even more fun in the moonlight. Sure, the harpies are normally out to kill you but guess what, if you give them food they don't want to eat you.

I grabbed my favorite hoodie, waterproof speaker, and my phone as I snuck out of Cabin 3. My bare feet made no noise as I ran by the canoeing lake and followed the little river the rest of the way to the ocean. I put my hoodie down on the sand and set my speaker and phone on it. My playlist started and I waded out into the ocean. The waves licked at my thighs (Getting frisky) and sent a shiver up my spine. The moon made her way into the sky and painted everything silvery blue. I lifted my face up to the light, picturing the moonlight reaching down like fingers to brush my face, making me the same color as the rest of the moment.
I stood there for a while, as my favorite songs floated out to me. I loved the feeling of being alone. There was no one to appease or cater to. The only person I had to be was who I wanted to be. It's relieving not to have to be who people want you to be. I ducked under the water just to feel it wrap around me. I reached down and touched the sand, letting it sift through my fingers. Smiling to myself, I took one last little look around and re-surfaced.
I wasn't alone anymore. I startled-looking guy, around my age, was standing over my things. He evidently didn't expect a completely dry, fully clothed girl to pop out of the water. But it's Camp Half-Blood, he should know better.
One of the first things I noticed about him, other than his completely black outfit, was how hot he was. He looked like he had some decent muscle definition under his T-shirt. His skin was pale, but not in a sickly way, and his hair was as black as black could be. The other thing I noticed is that we were both staring at each other. My face turned red and hoped the dim light made it hard to see me. He was also still standing over my things, my speaker in his hand.
"Stealing isn't cool," I awkwardly broke the silence. He seemed to have forgotten that fact because he quickly stepped back and set down my speaker. A blush on his cheeks stood out against his skin.
More awkward silence occurred before anyone said anything again.
"Posiden?" He asked. I was confused until I realized he was referring to my dryness even though I was half submerged.
"Ya, you?"I said.
"Hades," he replied. That answered a lot of questions, one of which was his identity. Nico Di Angelo, resident sexy emo kid, mad skilled, and fought over by all the girls, even though he was clearly uninterested in anyone. He was also my crush whom I somehow didn't recognize right away.
"Nice music choice," Nico broke the still awkward silence. He was referring to the Halsey song playing.
"Thanks," I perked up at the thought of my favorite singer, "she's my favorite."
"What's your favorite song?" Nico said, attempting small talk.
"Bad at Love, Gasoline, to name a few," I said. I shivered, getting cold in the water because of the breeze overhead. I timidly made my way back to shore to get my hoodie. My (H/L)(H/C) blew around my face as I stood beside Nico, not really knowing what to say.
"I'm Nico Di Angelo, by the way," he held out his hand. It took it shyly and shook it.
"I'm (Y/N)(L/N)."
We made small talk about music, training, and other semi-interesting things. We found ourselves sitting together on the sand while Halsey still played in the background, It switched to one of my favorites, Now or Never.
"Can I try something?" I looked at my hands.
"S-sure?" Nico sounded confused. I quietly put my hand on top of his, sitting in the sand. I waited for his hand to quickly move away from mine and for Nico to leave. Nothing happened, at least no one was repulsed.
"Can I try something too?" Nico whispered, closer to my ear than I expected. I nodded, still waiting for this to go horribly wrong. His other hand slipped under my chin, lifting my face to look at his. I saw something in his eyes that I couldn't quite put my finger. We stared at each other, then he whispered again, "One more thing."
He closed the tiny gap that was separating our lips. I felt him smile against my lips, sending a shiver down my spine. When we pulled apart, we were still just as close, if not closer. My body had moved closer to his as if pulled by a magnet. I laid my forehead on his, my eyes still closed.
"I don't know what that really was, but I don't regret it," He whispered, still only inches from my mouth. It was my turn to grin.
"I don't either," I whispered back.
"Do you want to do it again?" He leaned in closer. I nodded, still smiling.
So we did it again and would have kept doing it if we hadn't noticed the sun peeking over the end of the endless ocean.
"Oh, gods, I better get back before Percy blows a fuse," I pulled away from Nico, suddenly noticing how cold I was without him so close to me. I got up quickly and turned away, but I felt his cold hand on my arm.
"Wait," he turned me back around, "Tonight, 8:45, in front of my cabin?"
I nodded, "It's a date," I said before I really knew what I was saying.
"Is it?" Nico grinned at me.
"If you want it to," I nervously smiled back.
"Yes, I do want, more than anything else."
"Then, it's a date," I pecked him on the lips before I dashed back to my cabin, a smile tugging at my mouth.
