Maybe I can actually write a decent ending this time or maybe I'll end up doing 20 of these before I can get it right.

Once again, after Nico left, I couldn't think straight. Would he actually give up anything I asked him too? Will he come back in a week? What did I want? These were the kind of questions that had filled my head for 2 days as I mindlessly cleaned the house.

"Earther to (Y/N)," Percy poked my head as he passed me, "You look like you're wondering who to kill next."

"Thanks," I rolled my eyes and swatted his hand away.

"What are you thinking about," Percy pressed, leaning casually against the wall.

  "Nothing," I muttered.

"Are you daydreaming about the gorgeous Prince Nico?" Percy said in his attempt at a girly voice.

"How about you go find something manly to do or go make out with Annabeth," I shot annoyedly back.

"You leave Annabeth out of this," Percy stabbed an accusing finger in my face, "this conversation might be over but you won't be hearing the last of Perseus Jackson."

"How thrilling," I rolled my eyes again. I was about to say something else sarcastic but a knock sounded at our door. Percy and I exchanged looks and he went to get it.

"An invitation from the Castle for the Jacksons," a very regal looking messenger held an ever regaler envelop out to Percy. Percy looked confusedly at the little envelope but took, thanking the man then shutting the door. He held the fancy paper up so I could see it.

"What?" Percy walked over and handed it to me," why would we get anything from the Castel?"

"What are you asking me for?" I asked, turning the object of question over in my hands.

"You're the one who got whisked off to the castle and returned an hour later with nothing to tell anyone," Percy crossed his arms, "are you going to open it?"

"Shouldn't we wait for mom?" I suggested.

"Well if you don't want to-" Percy started, reaching for the envelope.

"You know what," I held the paper away from him, "I think I'll do it."

"I thought so," Percy smirked at me, raising an eyebrow. I stuck my tongue out at him but started carefully opening the envelope. I slid a black and silver piece of sturdy paper out of it. I suspected that the silver was actual silver leaf. I slowly turned it over and read the inscription.

The Jackson family is cordially invited to a Masquerade Ball in 5 days. Any purchases of clothing are to be charged to the royal family. You are permitted one other person out of the family to attend and you are requested to arrive by the chime of 7. The Prince would like that you chose to wear a suitable mask.

I held the invitation to Percy and he took it. "Can I bring Annabeth?" Percy asked eagerly after skimming over it.

"Is that really your only question?" I asked in disbelief, "and I don't care."

"Great!" he shoved the paper into my hands, "I'm going to go ask her!" With that, he shot out the door in search of the only person he seemed to actually care about. I was too shocked to be annoyed at Percy. I started at the paper, trying to make some more sense out of it. On a whim, I looked back into the envelope to see if I maybe missed something in there. I guess I have some kind of magical ability because there was something else in there.
