Violent shades of red
The color of her vengeance
Burning in lakes of her fire
Reverberating tears of lead and ash
Breath painting her melancholy
Pictures of a bloodied chill
Her wings dripping pain from her aged silence
Blurred shades of red
The color of her nostalgia
Needing to remember she was a summer bird
Sprouting her feathers in brilliant vermillion
But her seasons began to shrivel
As so did her hope
Frozen eyes on the horizon
Her gelid memories beginning in distortion
Deadly shades of red
Her trembling fingers cut through skin
Forming storms that waged beneath her eyelids
Forgetting what being alive was
Numb to her wings
A lifeless semblance of air she once was
Her voice forgotten on a winter wind
Faded shades of red
That blonde girl whisked away
Broken down bit by bit
Gone before they could fix her dismal song
Taking her summer bird away
Ripping at the seams of her being
Without ever knowing who she was
And then she was gone
Gone were the shades of red
Gone
