Shadows on the Wall

Bodies are just shadows on the walls

Opaque shrouds of profiles

Hiding strained bones integrated with purpose

Instruments made of water spilled emotion

Blood set with restless motivation

But bodies are just shadows on the walls

Guarding the tender strings of sensation

With only whispers of the melody through carved tears

Splintering with every word

Unleashed when the flesh fissures from the weight

Hearts are overwhelmed machines

Pressured by mechanical gears of expectations

Toiling until slowing and ceasing

Down, they drag our glass feet

Overflowing onto the tainted grounds

But hearts are overwhelmed gateways

Congested by misunderstood veins

Exposed only if given trust

Held together by the touch of placid love

Yet still covered by the shadows on the wall
