The chains are finally broken

The chains are finally broken. My eyes are no longer sown together, they are open.

There are a few things wrong...

1. I can't move my leg
2. My shoulder hurts but I can move it
3. I'm surrounded by multiple people that I've never seen before
4. I'm alone
5. I don't know where vetinary is
6. I feel like I died
7. I'm being asked if I'm "okay"
8. No! I'm not okay!
9. I can't reply because my throat is killing me
10. I'm hungry

"She can't reply. She must be parched. Get her some water and assist her with it"

A person rushed out of the room and returned with a bottle of water. The nurse helped me sit up and then slowly tipped the bottom to allow the cold, refreshing liquid slide down my throat.

I coughed as some of it slid down my throat.

The door banged open.

Vetinary.

He's been crying. His eyes wander to me and his facelifts up into a smile full of sadness, relief and happiness.

A droplet falls, not from the bottle... but from my eye.

"I'm fine. Thank you" I spoke up to the people around me... I grinned at vetinary.

"Okay. Call us if you need anything. We are going to give you some space" the nurses and doctors walked out of the door.

She's awake. I heard someone cough. It was a painful one... the doctors or nurses wouldn't be in pain, for sure.

I rushed in to see Isabella sat up, eyes wide open, a painful expression on her face. She was looking at me.

I smiled but it didn't reach my eyes. I feel guilty, it should've been me who was shot. I'm filled to the brim with sadness, guilt, anger, betrayal, pain and happiness. Yet when I look into her eyes... all of that disappear because she calms me.

The doctors and nurses flooded out of the room.

I took staggering steps towards the bed. Yanked a chair from the corner and sat next to the bed.

I put my head in my hands, dragged my palms down my face and then looked back to Isabella.

"How are you feeling?" I asked

"Fine" she smiled as she winced when my hand accidentally brushed against her thigh.

"I seriously doubt that the word 'fine' is impossible to do your feelings justice"

"Well you better believe it"

I sighed

"Just hurry up and get better. We need to move out of here quickly... I don't know how long it will take them, to catch up" I growled

It was her turn to sigh

"We are going to be on the run for a while, aren't we?" She posed it as a statement and a question.

I nodded.

Suddenly her gaze turned cloudy and began concentrating on something outside.

"Vetinary.." she paused "have you got your gun on you?"

"Yeah," I said worriedly.

"Give it to me!" She ordered

"You're not going to kill yourself?" I asked as I took the gun from the back of my trousers

She shook her head and I passed it over.

"Thanks now hide under the bed"

"What? Why?" I questioned angrily

"Just do it" she commanded and I did as I was told.

Seconds later... they barged into the room.
