Chapter 7

Suddenly there seemed to be this mad dash for my phone, with everyone wanting to answer it at once. "whoa! It's my phone let me answer it!" I wriggled away and was about to answer it when Katey said "put it on speaker!!" rolling my eyes, I did as she said.

"monique! I was starting to think you weren't going to answer your phone!" luke tutted and I laughed. "sorry, but some people still have to go to school so you know..." I grinned. "oops sorry hows your day been then? Were all missing you" Katey and my friends awwwed and I rolled my eyes at them. "yeah it's been okay, havent seen kalima or kelli yet thankfully", which made us both laugh. "good luck for when you do M". Suddenly I saw Katey motion at her wrist, and I glances up at the time, it was 1.50 already! Lunch was basically over. I said goodbye to Luke and promised to skype him later and then grabbed my stuff to go to lessons with Katey. "oh girl I'm so happy for you!" she beamed at me and I gave her a confused look. "what? Don't tell me you don't know!" she gasped as I shook my head. "well luke clearly has a thing for you!"

I burst out laughing. "no no no Katey you've got the wrong idea" I tried to control my laughter. "were just friends, I mean, he hardly knows me!" Katey shook her head at me. "he clearly does. I mean, taking the time and effort to call you when he's clearly got a busy schedule, he asked to meet up with you the day after you had met...if that's not a crush then I dont know what is!" I nodded in agreement but didn't really believe it. I mean come on, this is me were talking about. I'm okay looking but definitely not model standards, and definitely not in Lukes league. He couldn't like me...could he? The rest of the day seemed to blur by, I wasn't really concentrating in most of my lessons after what Katey had said, I kept mulling over the possibility that he might actually like me. Even Laura noticed, in the car on the way home she said "you're quiet this afternoon. Is everything ok?" I snapped out of my trance and nodded. "yeah sorry, got a lot on my mind." he nodded thoughtfully and said "does it by any chance have anything to do with Luke brooks?"

My jaw dropped. "how did you know?" she chuckled to herself and said "I can see the way you two look at each other, it's absolutely adorable." if it was at all possible, my jaw dropped even further. "what did you just say?" Laura looked confused. "you didn't realise? Gosh M are you blind? That boy has the hots for you big time!" I laughed slightly unsure of myself. "really? I mean, really? For me?" Laura nodded solemnly. "shame you're probably never going to see him again then isn't it." ah damn, hadn't thought about that. "what do I do, laur? How can I make sure it's true?" she just shook her head at me and said "there's nothing you can do now but wait and see what happens. Build up your friendship with him an get to know him better and who knows what could happen!" she smiled and ruffled my hair, laughing as I wriggled away. Well now I was a girl on a mission. And that mission was: get with luke brooks.
