To Bargain with a Demon Part 1
LOCATION: High in the mountains miles away from Gotham
Natasha's POV
My hand grips tightly at the sharp solid rocks as I look down I feel a rush of pure excitement although most people would probably admit to a wave of nausea or fear but I'm not most people,
"Man I can't believe people actually do this for fun!" Tim cries as he wipes the dripping sweat off of his forehead.
Tim and I had gone to the mountains for the weekend after the traumatic events of last week
(see silent Terror in the last chapter)
Bruce insist I take some down time to 'relax' as he put it, in fact he practically had to wrestle me out of Gotham to get me to do this,
I'm not one for taking it easy as soon as I've completed a mission its always on to the next, but I eventually gave in to Bruce's suggestion/order.
Once I decided on what to do in my "Down time" I decided on a rock climbing weekend and I even bought Tim along with me to teach him a few lessons Black Widow Style.
Tim was beginning to fall behind me I look down at the boy and I throw a small pebble down at him to get his attention
"Hey!" Tim cries
"We are climbing without any form of harness or safety gear you need to apply your full attention to the task at hand one small slip up is the difference between life and death Timmy"
I could hear him silently murmuring to himself he hated being called Timmy.
When I first met Tim Drake a few years ago we immediately got along like a house on fire, and if I did have a choice of having a son I would always pick Tim Drake he was brave, resourceful, loyal and a genius, but he was also one of the only few individuals that knew how to make me smile and making me smile was no small feat,
I suppose he sort of reminded me of myself before the Red Room made me the Black Widow.
The view when I reach the top is staggering and makes the whole climb worthwhile, but I mostly loved rock climbing because it gave me a sense of control over everything and I loved the thrill of falling to my death at any sudden moment but hey that's just my evenings.
A small hand grabs at the top ledge looking for something to grasp onto, I grab Tim's small hand and pull him up the rest of the way up
"Wow!" Tim exclaims breathlessly bewildered by the beautiful view
"I know" I reply,
Tim tirelessly throws his rucksack to the ground and sits down next to me
As the sun begun to set you could see the rays of the sun shining through the pine trees like liquid light.
We must sit there for a good few hours just talking about trivial things like school and work obviously.
Eventually Tim runs off into the woods to go to the bathroom and I'm left alone, I notice how low the sun is getting it will be best if we set up camp in the woods it would be too dangerous for Tim to make the descent trip in the dark,
Unless he wanted to make it a very fast descent trip.
Tim suddenly comes running out of the wood he looks panicked
