"At first I was afraid, I was petrified." Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive (1978)
_____
New school, new day, new friends, new enemies, new scene, new life. What could I say? I could only describe what I'm thinking by these words.
Yes, my mom seems to do the best thing for my look today for one reason, she don't want me to look bad in front of my new friends. I haven't got any friend yet.
"You will not have a bad first impression by them, trust me," she's been gibbering about how I look for the past ten minutes, and yet, she's still talking.
I would just love to wear my jeans and a shirt, but she's forcing me to wear one of her clothes. Her dresses was all too much, beads everywhere, and I still have to pick. Yes, she's a fashionable mom, always got a spare of fancy clothes in case of an emergency, fashion emergency.
"I wouldn't, if I don't stumble over a rock."
Mom cupped my face, like she used to do to comfort people. "Sweetie, I just don't want you to get bullied again. You've moved from this school to that school again and again. Maybe not this time. You should just stop obsessing over that old stuff."
"No way I would stop!" I practically yelled at her, cowering.
"Hey, there's my beautiful princess." My dad came out from nowhere. I gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "You're ready to go? I'll drive you."
"Sure," my cheeky smile showed up.
"Did you wear mom's blue spotted dress?" He asked suspiciously.
"Um, yeah. Why?" Confused, I glanced at mom who's smirking.
He giggled for a moment and stopped to answer. "It's your mother's dress on our date before Seth was born, early 90s exactly," he told me. "You give that dress to her?"
"She only want to wear that dress."
"Wow, this dress is old!" I cheered, too excited to what I'm wearing.
"Finally!" Mom screeched. Conner finally came out from the bathroom he's been using for like twenty minutes ago, he was drying his hair with a white towel looking completely shirtless. He rushed to his room quickly. He's the typical brother I have, he's 18 and somewhat annoying, like every brother.
"Well, I need the me time in the bathroom while you drive Emily to school. Bye, Rob. I love you." She gave my dad a light kiss on the cheek and she walked to the bathroom.
"Shall we go now?"
______
After about ten minutes I finally in the new school.
"Thanks dad," I gave him a peck on the cheek, opened the door before he stopped me.
"Wait! Don't do anything stupid," he smirked.
I burst out in laughter. "I wouldn't, okay."
"You would, because you're my daughter and I always do anything stupid. For example, like what I did to mom from the first time-"
"Okay, dad. I don't want to be late for school just to listen about your history with mom that you've been telling me lots of time. Bye, dad." I gave him my last smile before I stepped on my new school.
I waved at the silver car in front of me until it drove away. Sighing, I made my way to this busy school. Yeah, every single person is busy doing their stuff. Some of them were staring at me, but I don't care enough to give them a smile. I'm right, this dress does make a new impression to them, because it's the color of light blue which is caught everyone's attention. I quicken my pace.
