The book in Lucie's backpack started to move, as the group was walking out of a restaurant. She cautiously pulled it out and waited, for the message to be delivered. She knew it was another traveler trying to communicate with her. But her smiled disappeared when the book opened itself, revealing her father's handwriting.

— My dear Lucie, I would like to speak to you. I have your friend 'Zero' with me. If you would like to keep him alive and unharmed, find a way to come to me. My regards. Sheamus.

Lucie's jaw clenched, obviously her father had kidnapped Zero, he wasn't the type of man who would hand his own book to anyone. Not a single traveler would. But Zero was particularly attached to his, because it was full of bittersweet memories he cherished more than anything. Especially now that he was retired. Tears of frustration started to roll down her cheeks, there was no say she was letting her old friend die. She swallowed hard and looked up, meeting the eyes of curious Shadowhunters and a disconcerted vampire.

"I... Huh..." She ran a distracted hand through her hair out of frustration. "I need to... I don't know... I think my dad kidnapped one of my friend so well I suppose I have to go and rescue him somehow..." She swallowed hard. "So I'm going to France. Luckily for me, my dad exists in this Universe." She kept clenching her jaw. "I'm not asking you to come with me. I'm saying that I'm leaving you now." She handed the car keys to Simon. "You were my second in charge." Simon looked down at the keys. "So well, I guess that's where we part..." She offered a weak smile. "Can you tell Scott to not worry about me ? That I lo—" She shook her head. "That I'll contact him when I get back ?"

Isabelle frowned. "You're going alone?"

Lucie nodded. "Yeah, it's going to be fine. He just wants to talk." She shrugged, trying to seem more confident than she was.

"You're not going alone." Simon said.

"Yeah, we're not letting you." Clary added.

Lucie shook her head. "You guys don't owe me anything."

"Exactly. » Alec said. "That is why we're going back to Dr Deaton's clinic to wait for Magnus' portal."

"Alec is right. You guys are needed back there. I'm not risking anyone's life."

"Except yours." Jace pointed out.

"What if we don't all go? What if Alec and Clary stay here and warn us when the portal is here? It will literally take us like five seconds to come back from France using the notebook." Simon said.
