Alternative Present - Narnia
━━━━ ✦ ━━━━

Panting slightly as his heart relentlessly thumped in his ears, Jonathan forced his jaw to clench harder. The male drank in the scenery around him, unable to look at his sister's body for more than a couple of seconds at once. He found an odd satisfaction though, at the sight of Leith and Jace lying lifeless. He was, the best son. The only son still standing. He'd won. He chuckled softly, merely a breath through his nose as his lips curled into a frightening, satisfied rictus.

"I knew you'd come." The male spoke as a figure materialized ahead of him. "Magician." He finished, with a clear disgust.

He was met with little reply but an egyptian chant and a choking sensation as he was forced to kneel. The invisibility spell hadn't been lifted yet, but it didn't seem to bother his opponent. Indeed, their eyes glowed in an unnatural manner, entirely white orbs on features that betrayed sheer fury. "I will kill you."

"What a waste of time." Jonathan replied. "She's going for the spear, you know? The last daughter." He chuckled, the sound a little wet as his gaze settled on Clary. "We're all just cannon fodder to her."

"Then why did you agree to help her so eagerly?" Adrian asked, unable to control his force as he choked the other a little harder.

"Because she offered everything I wanted." The choking blond replied, features oddly stoic for someone whose face was turning so red. "And I am done settling for anything less."

The magician chuckled in utter disbelief. "How can you be so stupid and actually think she'll keep her promise." He asked, clenching his fist a little tighter and further choking Jonathan.

"I don't-don't-tu-tu-t-thi-think a-a-anyth-th-thing. I choose to be-lieve." Jonathan struggled to voice, his whole face now bright yet. When villains and heroes alike betrayed you, it makes sense to pick the side of the one who offers you the most and will disappoint you the less.

"Son of Adam." A deep, rich voice spoke. "You have to let him go."

Adrian snarled, glancing over his shoulder to come face to face with a gigantic lion. "Why would I do that?" He bitterly asked, recognizing Aslan. "Why would I choose passivity like all of you?"

Aslan sighed heavily as he grew closer. "Look around." He spoke, trying to break Adrian's hyper focus on his enemy. The magian furrowed his brows but decided to obey. Slowly, his gaze trailed around, chin trembling but jaw clenched as his eyes fell on the bodies. But past that initial horror, came a certain surprise. The whole place seemed to be gently trembling, shaking all around in a blurred, barely noticeable motion. "It is starting." Aslan announced.
