━━━━━ ✦ ━━━━━"I feel like we're wasting precious time." Lucie said, running a thumb along the scar mark left by a past rune on her elbow. She couldn't tell which one it was, just that it didn't belong there. And judging by the way it burnt her skin as a searing reminder of a past reality in which she died, so did the timeline. "Someone is hunting us throughout timelines. There's no point is having us confined here to rest." She argued, eyes growing glossy. "You can't even look at me, why are you here?" She inquired, frowning at Jace.
"For Clary." He replied. The redhead was sleeping in the spare room. Feeling herself dying had been particularly draining for her.
"Right." Lucie rolled her eyes. "She's asleep, you can go."
"Why, does my sight upset you?"
"Yes. Particularly." The female replied. "Does my sight upset you?"
"You upset me. You confuse me. You anger me. You frighten me. All at once. I hate it." Jace replied, making the female draw in a short breath.
"Can we not not do this now?" Simon impatiently cut in. He turned towards Lucie. "Do you have any idea of how to fix it?"
Lucie's eyes trailed to Adrian, searching for approval. He gave a small nod. She let out a long breath. "Realities constantly overlap." She tried to explain. "Because there's an infinity of multiverses that coexist. I've been a traveler for two years now. I, I've been to different realities. What is a book here, might be a truth elsewhere or a myth. And your doppelgänger on earth 21 might be a famous actor or a mathematician. The single constant is that all matter existing on an earth will be met on another. We, traveler are an atemporal agency, we are plucked from our original reality and attuned to not disrupt any we'd end up in. At least, purely in terms of matter. That way, we don't disrupt anything. We just do what we need to, fix what needs to be, then we leave and go elsewhere. We exist to make realities gentler. We do, influence the course of history. But more in in accompanying way to ensure it goes how it's supposed to."
"How does that help us understand how to fix this mess?" Alec inquired.
"I was getting to this part. I, don't matter. Adrian doesn't either. Our future is meant to be entirely irrelevant to the course of time. But we've been offered a chance at greatness." She shot the magician a small smile. "Clary is an entirely different case. She is crucial to your reality. But there's a new component, something unforeseen that is rooted in our lineage. Our fathers are basically doppelgängers. And for some reason, they believe we could grow to stand in their way. It's not about us, now. It's about who we could grow to be. Whatever plot our respective fathers have fomented together, they believe we could be an obstacle to. We're being methodically erased to ensure it doesn't happen."
