“It’s impossible. Wait, how are you still alive?”
“It’s a long story.”
“That must mean... Bucky is... dead...”
“Sarah...”
“Steve, how are you still alive?”
“I was frozen for 67 years. The serum in my body kept me alive.”
I felt like I am going to explode. My entire world was crumbling down. My head was spinning and I felt like my heart was shattering.
“Agent Romanoff please report.”
“We have to go.”
“What about her? I can’t leave her here.”
“Steve, Fury wants to see you. He said it was urgent. We will take her with us. The nurse will have a look at her.”
“I need a witch.” The redhead’s head snaps in my direction.
“A what?”
“A witch. What do you need one for?”
“A new daylight ring, since we can’t find mine.”
“Okay off course. Come with me. We will find one together.”
“I will meet you at SHIELD tower.”
He nodded. “You still work for SHIELD.”
“Old habits die hard I guess.”
We were about to leave when his phone rang. “Yes I am on my way.”
Upon arrival at the SHIELD tower I realised that the world I was used to is gone. I still felt sad that Bucky is dead. Guess forever isn’t as long as I thought it will be.
“Sarah.” He placed his hand on mine. “Wait here I won’t be long.”
“Okay, sure. Thanks Steve.”
While I was sitting in the van I felt a calming sensation rush over me. The darkness that crept up was a happy one. I felt myself falling into a deep sleep and then his face appeared in my dreams. We were happy and then came the real darkness flooding my mind with evil. I was startled awake.
I saw Steve making his way back to the car.
“So I am going to take you to my apartment so you can take a shower. I will go and pick up some blood at the hospital and get you some new clothes.”
“Thank you Steve. You have no idea what you have meant to me today.”
“No problem.”
We entered his apartment building and he opened the door for me. He gave me a towel and a robe and guides me towards the bathroom. I sat for a while on the toilet just thinking. I got up and got into the shower.
The water on my skin made me shiver. Tears started streaming down my face and I just sat down on the shower floor. How am I going to move on without Bucky?
