"We ain't no secret."

I was free in the shop today so I sat around listening to gossip. I saw a mailman walk in with very beautiful flowers. "Now who you here for?" Miss Bruce asked loudly as she took a look at the flowers. "Oh these for you C." She said after reading the card. "Oh does Carlotta have a secret admirer?" I asked. 

"Who they from?" Danielle asked. 

"Pastor Harris." Carlotta said smiling. Awwww.

Miss Bruce gave her a look. 

"So why he can't give me flowers? We ain't no secret." She said placing the flowers in a jar.

"Hate to break it to you Carlotta but you sorta are. I mean just because we know don't mean the ladies at the church known anything about ya'll." Danielle tells her. "I can't stand them they so nosy that's why I don't fool with that place." Ms. Bruce had the nerve to call somebody else nosy when her ass always be in somebody business. 

"You know Pastor Harris asked me to direct the choir. I told him i'll think about it. But apparently he ain't taking that for an answer. 

Star, Alex, Simone, and Cotton came in with bags. Carlotta gave Cotton a look. "I know you ain't boosting again." My eyes widened. "And like you even care mama." Cotton said rolling her eyes. I wish I could make them see. 

"This is Hunter's card. He said we could pick up some stuff for the live auditions. And let Nattie work her magic." Star said looking at me. "I might have gon a little crazy." My eyes widened, Hunter don't play about his money. Especially his crazy ass mama, in charge of it.

I was finishing up the last touches on their outfits, when Star came in. "Ooh did you make this." She asked me. I just upcycled her tops she bought. "Yeah what do you think?" I asked her. "Its amazing like always Nat, damn i'm so glad you decided to stay." She tells us. "its nothing Star, I mean I love fashion, but Tio Jahil told me it wasn't really worth it. So I never really bother with it before." I shrug. 

"Star go and apologize." Carlotta said as she walked up the stairs. "Why do I always have to be the one to apologize?" Star asked. "Because your the who always startin mess." Carlotta replied. "Star Alex gave up a lot to do this with ya'll, what you give up? Because there are gonna be a lot of things trying to tear ya'll apart, how ya'll gonna be a group if ya'll can't agree on anything." Star rolled her eyes and walked downstairs. 

Simone walked up seconds later. "What you doin?" Carlotta asked. "I was gonna check out the outfits Nattie made." She said and I smiled. "Did you finish your homework?" I asked "Half of it." She told me. "Well march on back down and do the other half." Carlotta said. "Are you still bent up about that tape?" Simone asked. "Look if this music thing don't work out you gonna need something to fall back on." Carlotta said. "Maybe you should go to the auditions see what you're fighting for." I tell her.

We were at the auditions and I was doing the girls makeup. "I don't know if we're ready we only had a day to rehearse." Star said. I smile doing her signature  wing. "Girl ya'll kill it everytime." I tell her. Jahil and Eva or whatever her name was walked backstage. "Ya'll ready to go out there and kill it?" He asked. Just then the rude bitches I heard about from the club walked past us. "Good luck you're gonna need it." They said laughing. "Walking away with all that weave bitch!" I said just enough so they can hear and she turns around and I flip her off. 

"Bitch." Cotton mumbled. "Nat you always makin a scene." She tells me laughing I shrug. "Alright ya'll lets go." Jahil says. 

They were fire. I stood next to Eva. "So are you Jahil's new toy, because we both know that you and I aren't related." I tell her. "no estoy buscando problemas." She tells me. "I never said you were, I just want to know why i'm lying to those girls about who you are." I tell her. "Tu tío me salvó. Está cuidando de mí y se preocupa por mí. Y nunca te pedimos que mientas, así que ese es tu problema." Eva tells me.

"Pequeña perra." I tell her. She rolls her eyes. I knew she wasn't as innocent as she seemed. 

The girls came back and Eva left. "You ladies killed it." I tell them. "Thank you Nat." Alex said smiling. "That song was amazing even after all these years. Ya'll don't keep Simone out too late." Carlotta said. I laughed.

The next morning I was helping Cotton with some pancakes. Well she did the work and I complained about being hungry. 

"Ya'll we fire last night." Cotton said. "Yeah Alex did a great job with updating the song. And thank you Nat for making us look hot." Simone said smiling. "Thank you Nat, you got style, you really do." Alex said. "Aww Alex, thank you." I said glad all our drama was over. 

Her phone then beeped and she started screaming because of her notification. "Oh my god ya'll we made it to the top 20." She said and I smiled. We all hugged. The house phone rang and Simone answered. 

"God's blessings can you call back tomorrow?" She asked. 

Her face paled when she heard the voice. I'm guessing it was her foster family. She hung up and walked back to where she was sitting. "Don't answer it was just a bill collecter." She said. 

I nodded but didn't believe her. Something wasn't right but I didn't question it. It wasn't the time.
