the mute and the bad boy

chapter 3

SKYE

I sat on the edge of my bed with my head in my hands thinking of what to do, what if he told someone, I'd be ruined, everyone would want to know why I lied then I'd have to tell them why and I am not going to do that... I'm not ready.

I sat on the edge of the bed for 30 minutes panicking about the situation, but then I stood up quickly and groaned grabbing my shoes, keys and phone from my dresser, I ran downstairs, sat on the bottom step and put my shoes on, "where are you going?" Emma asks entering the hall again, "to keep my secret, well, a secret" she nodded and opened the door for me.

I legged it across the street and stopped at his door, centimetres away from me was the doorbell, I was so nervous, I didn't know him that much, and one stupid ride home ruined my life.

I pressed the doorbell and heard footsteps coming to the door, "hello can I help you?" I didn't want his family to know so I kinda pointed to their staircase, "oh your Alex 's mute friend, I'll go get him, come in" I was shocked he mentioned me to his family, nonetheless I entered and admired the beautiful artwork and decoration around the hall, "what do you want?" He asks making me jump slightly, I point at his shoes and he rolls his eyes and starts putting them on.

When he finally had his shoes on he said goodbye to his mum and we exited his home, "so... what now?" He asks with little emotion, I started walking and he swiftly followed behind me, I ran across the road and down a small alley next to my neighbours house, we kept running for about 10 minutes before I came to a complete stop.

"The woods?" He said, I nodded and entered the the wilderness, we walked for another 10 minutes in silence until I came to complete stop again catching him off guard causing him to trip, "what is this place?" He said referring to the small tree house placed a few feet above us, "my hideout, it's where I come when I'm troubled or upset" he stares at It and looks at me funny, "why'd you bring me here? we just met this morning" I sigh and walk up the ladder to the small tree house and sit at the top of the ladder on the deck, "it's the only place I know is safe to talk" his eyes light up like he remembered something he forgot, "you talk" I sighed a waved a hand for him to come up.

We sat about a meter away in the small house and his eyes never left me, whereas I couldn't find myself to even lift my head, "why are you lying?" I sighed and shook my head, "I'm not, I just don't want to talk, whats the point when you have nothing to talk about or nobody to talk to" he gaze turned confused and he sat back leaning on his hands, "I don't have any friends, In my old school I had a maximum of 1 and she would always talk for me so I never did anything else, and it's not like I have a normal family... I don't have anything good in my life" a single tear slipped and I quickly wiped it away, "I know I found out that you talk but... you could have made up an excuse or just asked me to keep it a secret, why tell me all of this?" He chuckled at first but stopped, "I don't know, I feel like if I told you why I don't talk you would understand more" he nodded and we sat in silence.

"Your secret is safe with me don't worry" he says, I look at him and smile, "thank you" I sat there for a moment thinking about everything that happened today and then I remembered something that happened this morning, "I heard you talking about something in the principles office this morning, you sounded mad but I didn't work out what you were talking about?" He sighs and glances out the door and back to me, "we just had a disagreement, it's nothing to worry about" I noticed he moved his left hand out of sight, he thinks I didn't see it, I'm not gonna confront him, he's obviously not in the mood to talk about it.

"Wanna go home?" I asked standing up he nods and we leave. We walked through the woods again in complete silence, when we reached our street we parted ways he waved to me as we both entered our homes.

"How'd it go?" Emma says poking her head round the door frame of the living room, I sat on the step and pulled my shoes of throwing them with the rest that were piled at the door, "good, I think, he's going to keep it a secret, which I'm very thankful for" she nodded and turned when her phone started ringing, she disappeared round the corner and picked up her phone.

I walked in and she held up a hand for me to stop, "okay yeah that's okay, I'll tell her" she acts all serious until the person hangs up,  "what's happening?" He practically jumped and I'm pretty sure the thing was meant for me, "your brother is coming to stay with us" she beamed, I hadn't seen him in 4 years, fun fact we're twins, but he went to live with my other auntie and uncle, "that's awesome, for how long?" She suddenly stopped and looked down, "did I say staying, I meant living, he's going to be moving in" now that was a shock, I hadn't seen him in years and now he's coming to stay, talk about bad timing, now I have to deal with Alex knowing I talk, Lydia and the cheer squad, school work and and HIM.

This is going to be fun (note the sarcasm)

so another chapter, not to great but the story is unrolling fast. Xx Xx
