Chapter 43

Sharna was nervous for today. And today would not even be the most important of the three. It was only the rehearsal dinner. But she was just really happy for Peta to get married to the love of her life.

She hoped that one day this would be Val and her. Sharna was with Peta all day, helping her prepare and trying to calm her down. Because Peta could sometimes be very stressful. But the thing Sharna liked most about today was taking care of Shai, whenever Peta had a fitting or her make-up had to be done.

Shai loved his aunt Sharna and he was happy to stay with her most of the day. He was the happiest little fellow and if he could get a cuddle, his smile never seemed to end.

And an hour before the rehearsal dinner he was once again with his aunt.

"He really loves you?" Peta said.

"What? Who?"

"Shai, here off course. I know he always seems happy, but with you he's always a little happier."

"And I'm a little happier with him around," Sharna said as Shai was once again smiling at her, while she was tickling his belly.

"When are you going to get one of your own?" Peta asked with a grin.

Sharna looked up at her best friend and gave her a smile. "Not yet, but soon enough. Once Val and I are settled."

"You know, I know Val really wants kids..."

Sharna could hear the provocation in her best friends' voice. But she didn't mind. Actually Sharna had been thinking about it herself. She knew that she wasn't going to get any younger with time passing and she really wanted kids. So wanted kids herself and she wanted them with Val. If he wanted them as well.

"Sharna, are you still there?"

Sharna looked up again from Shai to Peta, who now had a big smile on her face.

"I also want kids." Was all Sharna said about that matter.

After that it was time for Shai to get in his clothes for the evening and after that the girls went downstairs. They were awaited by their dates, both really beautiful in their suits. Sharna, still with Shai in her arms, was kissed and hugged by Val. While Maks welcomed Peta.

They went into the dining room together and not much later they welcomed their friends and family.

Shai was already back with his parents and not much later it was time for him to go to bed. Peta's parents would take care of him for the night.

After rehearsal dinner it was already really late and most of the guests went to bed. This was also the case for Sharna and Peta, who would sleep together tonight.

After the two girls had gotten ready for bed, they started talking. About the wedding, about their men, about Shai, about everything they could think about. It just felt really natural to talk about these things with each other.

The day of the wedding was even more hectic than the day before. Sharna and the bridesmaids got ready for the wedding together and the moment Sharna was done with hair and make-up, it was time to help Peta. And Sharna arrived at just the right moment.

Peta was getting really stressed about the wedding, but fortunately Sharna could help her calm down.

After getting ready, getting all the photos done and a lot of waiting, it was time for the ceremony.

Sharna felt two hands wrap around her waist and it made her jump a little. "Are you ready?" She heard a familiar voice ask.

"Yes, I am. And are you ready to be the best man?"
