A flight to Canada

A week has passed since Jason got out of hospital. I know I promised for him to see his father the week he got out but I was too scared of what he could say.

"Mummy, John and me is hungry!!" Jason said as he drove John around in his new toy truck.

I can't believe this spider is still alive. What is the lifespan for spiders anyway?

"Alicia, have you seen Kaycee's tiara?" Selena asked me as she slowly walked downstairs.

She was helping me pack for tomorrow morning when we leave.

"No..check in my room." I replied.

"Mummy!! Me and John is hungry!!!" Jason screamed.

Oh gosh.

"Jason, you ate 30 minutes ago." I replied.

"John say me must be hungry because he hungry!!" He protested.

"What do spiders eat?" I asked for the hundredth time this week.

"Inthects!!" Jason replied.

"You can go out and find insects for John then. But DO NOT eat them no matter what John says." I reply.

"Mummy! Tiara is where?" I heard Kaycee say.

"In my room, come I'll find it with you." I said as I walked upstairs to search for her tiara.

Hours have passed and we were finished packing, Selena left a few minutes ago.

"Okay, it's time for bed!" I called out to the two troublemakers.

"Mummy! Fairy wings is broken!!" Kaycee wailed.

What!? I brought those for her 3 days ago!!

"Don't worry sweetie, I'll buy you new ones." I said as I leaded her to her room.

I tucked her bed and kissed her goodnight.

"Jason!!!" I called out.

Silence.

I walked downstairs and stormed outside into the backyard. I found Jason giggling like a madman while splashing mud all over the place.

"Jason" I smiled. "Youve just taken a bath and look at how dirty you are now."

He looked really cute playing in the mud.

"Mummy! John tell joke!! John say chicken cross road." He said as he giggled a very high pitched giggle.

Sometimes I wonder if this spider really talks and thinks of him as a friend.

"Come lets get you cleaned up." I said as I lifted up Jason with John in his hand and walked towards the bathroom.

Wow, kids are really a handful.

"Bye. See you in a few weeks time when we return to Canada." Selena said as she hugs Jason and Kaycee.

"Bye!" I reply as I walk towards the car and wait for Jason and Kaycee to climb in.

For once in a long time, I had a good feeling about this. As soon as Jason and Kaycee climbed in the car I drove off with a little bit of tingling in my veins.

"Mummy. Why you and Daddy live in different place?" Jason asked.

My blood heated up as a little anger rose.

"You're too young to understand." I replied.

"Did Daddy hate you?" Kaycee asked.

He sure acted like it.

"I don't know." I replied.

"Do you love daddy?" Jason asked.

"Jason, Kaycee...look there are some things I cannot explain to you." I said keeping in my anger.

"But mom, you act dad hate you. Does he?" Jason asked.

"STOP IT!! BOTH OF YOU!! I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT HIM OKAY?!" I yelled as both they both sulked and tears dwelled up their eyes. 

I took a deep breath.

"Okay look, I'm sorry. Mommy and Daddy were very much in love but we had to seperate because of the evil witch that would curse the children. Would you like to be cursed?" I asked.

"No!!" Both of them screamed as they burst out laughing.

I laughed along with them and rolled my eyes at how gullible they could possibly be.

"So mom, when we see Daddy, will we be cursed?" Jason asked.

"Uhm. No...you will...get superpowers.." I tried to think to something super quick but regretted it immediately.

"Really!?" They both asked.

"No no no." I said trying to fix things. " it just means Santa will get you a HUGE present for Christmas."

"YAAY!!" They cheered in unison.

"But mom, what happened to the evil witch?" Asked Kaycee.

"She...uh...she flew off the bother someone else." I said with a laugh.

Jason and Kaycee joined in and laughed along as we reached the airport.

It's going to be a long flight to Canada.

"Hello ma'am would you like anything?"

"No thank you." I replied to one of the flight attendees.

"Mom!! Me want chocolate!!" Jason and Kaycee said in unison.

I opened my handbag and took out a Dairy Milk chocolate bar I had been hiding from them and handed it to them. I then took out my phone and nervously dialled in a number after a few rings, the receiver picked up.

"Hello?"

"Uhm..Justin...hey. I just-"

"Wait...Alicia?" He asked.

Did he delete my numbers?!

"Yeah it's me. I just-"

"Hold on, I can't talk right now." He replied.

"Justin, I'm returning to Canada." I blurted.

"Sorry?"

"I'm returning to Canada." I repeated.

Then there was a long awkward silence before he cleared his throat and said,

"I'll pick you up at the airport."

And hung up before I could even reply.

"Was Daddy on phone?" Jason asked.

"Yeah."

"Me wanted to talk to daddy!" Kaycee whined.

"Dont worry. You'll see him soon enough." I said with a sigh as I drifted off to a deep sleep.
