p.s Emma, You wont answer my texts, so just so you know, the movie starts at 3.

“Hey Kymberleigh, thank you so much for minding Nell.” I said as my baby sister ran out of the house, clutching my hand.

“No problem. It would be nice if we could be friends.” She said softly.

“Definitely, I don’t know why we have never hung out before though!” I squeezed Nell’s hand as she tried to walk away.

“You’ve always had definite friendships… I didn’t want to intrude on that.” She said trailing away as she shrugged. “I’ll text you.”

“Bye!” Kymberleigh shut the door and I finally gave in to Nell’s tugging. I guess I did have definite friendships but did that mean that people avoided talking to me? I had branched out while the gang were away in America, meeting people like Kym and others. Who was I kidding? ‘Others’ was one guy named Robert who I exchanged numbers with after meeting him at the photo shoot.

Nell skipped ahead, spinning around and pulling up weeds, handing them to me as flowers. She grinned at me before I thanked her for her present and kissed her cheek.

“They are so beautiful!” I exclaimed, gesturing to the clump of grass and weeks that she had handed me.

I walked into the house to see Dad standing in front of the cooker, shaking the contents of a box into a pan.

“Hey Dad, what are you doing?” I asked as Nell ran forward hugging his legs.

“Cook dinner?” He offered unsurely as I giggled.

“I’ll do it; you just go and play with Nell.” I replied. I am messed up, I live off other people’s drama and mistakes, I live to correct them.

He had been attempting to make couscous and added about double the amount of water you were supposed to. I drained it out and started again.

I wonder what Niall was doing right now, I thought as I looked out the window into the darkness. It was 8.30; he would be playing his guitar in the chair by his window, singing softly to himself or watching a football match on the TV with Greg. He would have already had dinner; Maura enjoyed having a strict 6pm meal time.

Mum enforced a meal time too. We would always eat at 6.30. I had tried to keep up with the tradition but with school, my art, Nell and friends; it always ended up being after 8.

“Hello!” Nell shook me out of my daydream. I pulled the corners of my mouth into a smile as I bent down to talk to her.

“What do you want honey?” I smiled, pulling her hair back off her face as she smiled cheekily.

“Hey Ni.” I said, yawning as I plonked on my bed, pulling off my shoes. His face burst out of the computer screen as I adjusted the laptop, lying on my stomach.

“Hey sweetie.” Niall said as he scrolled through something on another tab.

“Whatcha up to?” I asked as he opened up Skype again and smiled at me.

“Well, my lovely. I promised Dad that I would go back to Mullingar for the last 2 weeks of the holidays.” He said pulling a dramatic sad face.

“Aww boo! I haven’t seen you AT ALL this summer.” I said as he fiddled with his hair.
