Chapter 21

This chapter is dedicated to the lovely Kaylaxx1D who the character of Kym is based on.

“Morning poppet.” My dad said, waking me from my sleep. I was lying in my bedroom and his anxious face was staring at me.

“Hey Dad. How did I get here?” I asked, rubbing sleep from my eyes and sitting up.

“Well, I came home yesterday and you weren’t here. Nell was dropped home by a girl named Kymberleigh but she was home alone for hours.” He said, his stern gaze making me duck my head. “Then, Nell and I had to go gallivanting around to see if anyone knew where you were. All of your friends said they hadn’t seen you all day so we went around the town looking. I was ten minutes from calling the police when Liam found you at the train station.”

His voice was angry and I knew it was for a reason, he never got angry over anything.

My stupid plan to see who cared had not worked out in a good way. I had distressed my family, put Nell in danger and made Liam walk around town for ages.

However, on a positive note, Liam still looked for me despite being angry with me and I had Dad and Nell who cared. I realised that the gap between him speaking and my response had been too long.

“I’m really sorry Dad. I was upset and hurt and angry and I did the wrong thing. I promise I won’t worry you like that again.” I said, as he pulled me into a hug.

“Ok sweetheart, is everything ok?” He asked, petting my hair as I shook my head.

“Nope. I need to apologise for worrying some other people. How were the ones who were out looking for me?” I asked.

“Well, Louis, Harry, Zayn and Liam looked. Sky, Lucy and Ella all had homework so they didn’t have time and Niall was at Kym’s house for dinner, meeting her parents.” Dad explained.

This new information put my head in a spin for several reasons only explained through a list:

1.                                                     Louis and Liam put aside their anger to look for me

2.                                                     Zayn and Harry still looked despite feeling really awkward around me

3.                                                     Sky and Ella are obviously still really angry at me

4.                                                     Lucy was siding with Sky and Ella

5.                                                     Niall and Kymberleigh Kemp were serious enough to be having dinner with their parents

In some ways, especially for 1 and 2, I was overjoyed. For other such as 3 and 4, I was disappointed but they were to be expected. And 5? Well, if I continued to think about that for much longer I will certainly burst into tears.

“You have to go to school today though.” Dad said, getting up from my bed and walking out of the room. I nodded and got out of bed, finding that they hadn’t bothered to change me out of my school uniform. I pulled out some fresh clothes and pulled my hair back into a small, messy plait.

The school day was informative, although not in an academic way. I saw Niall and Kymberleigh pedal past me on their bikes, laughing cutely and not noticing my presence. When I got to the gates; Ella, Sky and Lucy were standing there, whispering. They took a look at me and then proceeded to walk in a group towards their lockers.
