Flaming Dreams [Pokemon]

Chapter 1: "The Story Begins"

"Rochelle..." I heard someone whisper my name.

"Rochelle...!" The voice was getting louder.

"ROCHELLE!"

I bolted up form my bed, but fell terribly and onto someone. I quickly got back up and looked into the eyes I had just crushed.

"I'm so sorry, Alice." I apologized, face to face with my roommate.

"No worries!" She smiled and got up.

"But you're still a stupid one for waking me up like that. I nearly got a heart attack." I said, trying to make a serious face, which ended horribly with me and Alice bursting out laughing.

"Alright, alright." Alice begun after finally recovering from laughter. "We'd better get ready."

That was our usual morning routing, although we've wanted to change it for years, but no luck. This was always followed by our race to the bathroom and the 'getting ready' process.

"Alice, let's go!" I called from the door after a little while, backpack on my shoulder.

"Coming!" She answered and rushed out of the toilet.

Smiles on our faces we stepped out of our room going on still with the everyday habitual. But wait, you might be wondering where are we? Let me explain.

I study, well, the better word for it is live in the Sinnoh's Academy of Gym Leading, which is for what the name tells - to become a Gym Leader. Becoming one has been my dream for years and I'm really close to achieving it.

For me, it's my third year at the academy, but you have to study four years in total to graduate from this school. The academy accepts students who are at least 16 years old. For example, me. I started when I was 16.

You're probably wondering, can't you become a Gym Leader without finishing this school? Well, you can, but it's harder that way, unless you are related to the previous Leader or a really good friend of his or her.

But with the proof that you have graduated from the Sinnoh's Academy of Gym Leading (or any other school of that sort), the chance of retiring Gym Leaders, and if you're very lucky, then even the members of the Elite Four, noticing you, is a big chance.

Usually, when a Gym Leader decides to quit his/her job, they first look at the list of graduated students and pick a few people from there. Then the ones who were chosen will have to come to a so called 'job interview' and then the Leader will select the person who will get the job.

Moving on with our little walk down the stairs and towards out classes, it's really important to know the layout of the schoo. When you exit the dorms, the first thing you see is the main building. It has six floors and is where all the classes and the teachers offices are located.

A big and wide staircase from the main building leads to the courtyard, where a few battle fields and the academy Day-Care are located. The left and right side of the yard are surrounded by fences.

Opposite the main building is a smaller one, where the students live and where the cafeteria is. It has four floors. The room where me and Alice live is on the third floor.

Right now we were walking through the courtyard and heading towards the main building. Unfortunately, we didn't have our first lesson together. The first class was Type Characteristics, but since me and Alice study different types, we had to take this class separately.

I'm studying Fire-Type. My partner is Delphox, who was my starter as a Fennekin. Alice's partner is her Gallade and she studies Psychic-type.

Me and Delphox are actually from Kalos, Laverre City to be exact. I have challenged all the gyms in Kalos, but for some reason, i didn't take on the Elite Four.

Instead, because I was completely fond of gym leader work, I decided to travel to Sinnoh and study in this academy. There was an academy in Kalos, too, but I felt like I needed something new, a new region to start off of.

I have other Pokemon besides Delphox, but since I am studying fire-type and I had no other Fire-type Pokemon, I had to leave the others in the academy Day-Care. My other Pokemon are: Noivern, Avalugg, Goodra, Aurorus and Malamar.

Now I also have a Pyroar, which Laura, my childhood friend from Kalos, sent me while it was still an Egg.

Back to present, again. It was a usual lesson. I was sitting behind my desk, between two other girls. Professor Flare was standing in front of the class, talking, as the students were quickly taking notes. Todays lesson was about defenses.

"Pros and cons...Ground, Rock, Water...common...resistances...little use" I was talking to myself, taking notes. Why can't this lesson end already? It seemed like time didn't want to pass at all and I felt sleepy.

Trying to stay awake I wrote down some facts, that Professor Flare said were very important.

When the bell rang, everybody ran out. Alice and her Gallade were already waiting for me beside the window in the hallway.

"Hey, Alice! How was the lesson?" I questioned.

"Nah, not too much. Mr. Sight has been teaching us about defenses for the last three lessons and it's getting really boring. I mean, I'm interested in it, but he keeps on talking about the same stuff, so we're not learning much new."

"Oh, well. Guess you'll just have to live with it."

"Yeah, but I now about defenses anyway, so no big deal." She answered, trying to sound Ok..

We went on laughing and heading for our next class - Strategy. As we were walking down the long hallway, an announcement came from the speakers.

"Rochelle Brennen and Tyler Reuer, to my office!"
