Chapter 2: "Big news and a great catch"

“Rochelle Brennen and Tyler Reuer, to my office!”

“Hmm…what could that be about?” I wondered.

“Don't worry,” said Alice “I'll wait here!” She smiled and I headed towards the Head-Masters office.

It was located on the third floor. From the point where I was, you had to walk to the end of the corridor, turn left and walk up some stairs. From there the Head-Masters office was to the right.

I saw Tyler at the stairs.

He's my rival, although I'd say I'm not quite happy about it. I've tried to talk to him and convince him, that we could be friends, but he doesn't listen. Well, I don't actually blame him, because our first meeting wasn't the sunniest.

It was a friday in September. All of the new students, who were moving to the academy, were picking rooms. Me and Alice were looking for a free one and so we were walking through a long corridor. At the end of it I saw a room with a slightly open door that I thought was free. 

So I ran to it and barged in. But to my disappointment the room was taken. I was also really embarrassing, because Tyler, the one who that room belonged to, was in there.

And you know when sometimes, when you're in a hotel, or basically anywhere, where you need to pick a room, the first thing you do after finding that place is jumping on the bed.

That was exactly what I did, but because Tyler was sitting on the bed at that moment, I literally crashed into him.

And so I apologized awkwardly and tried to tell him, that it was an accident. All that time Tyler was looking at me like a weirdo. He just told me to leave his room and never come back.

From that day on, me and Tyler don't get along very well. As I said, I have tried to regain the friendship (that we never had), but without luck.

But back to the present.

We went up stairs, not saying a single word. Reaching the office we knocked on the door. The Head-Master let us in and we sat down.

“Well then.” The Head-Master said “Do you have any idea why I called you here?”

I shook my head while Tyler was just sitting there, obviously not knowing it, either.

“You've both beed chosen to to take part of the RLP, or the Regional Leader Program.”

The RPL is a program, where two students, one boy, one girl, are chosen from the academy and they can visit one gym leader in each region, learning from them and training with them.

I was filled with joy and I think I would have even screamed. But both me and Tyler immediately realized something, and shouted in unison.

“With her!?”

“With him!?”

“Yes,” Stated the Head-Master “No complaining, the decision has already been made. You will receive your schedules in the afternoon. Now, head back to class.”

We left the office. I was really happy that I can be apart of this program, but at the same time I not so happy. Tyler wasn't the person I would like to spend my next week with. Oh, might as well make the best of it.

“Hey, Alice!” I yelled, running down the stairs. “I'm taking part of the RLP!”

“Really? That's so great!” She answered. I could see she was a little disappointed, but at the same time she was happy for me.
