Suddenly I jumped up and shouted “Ty, look out!”
Volkners Raichu was charging up a Thunder. Tyler looked at me confused, then at Mienshao, but it was too late to say anything. Mienshao was struck by lightning and the battle was over.
“Raichu, return!” Volkner shouted, then added with a rather disappointed tone, “Remember, Tyler, always stay focused on the battle!”
“Yeah, I know that. I don't know what came over me.” answered Tyler, returning Mienshao.
“Still,” added Volkner “You did great. Now, you should get lunch and then we'll meet at the training field.”
We agreed and walked out of the gym, looking for a Pokémart. “What happened there, Ty? You seemed like you weren't paying attention to the battle at all.” I questioned him, while still looking around for some food.
“Nothing, OK? I was just over thinking.” he snapped back.
“Wow, you don't need to be so rude!” I replied “Come one, lets get something to eat.”
He mumbled something and we entered a Pokémart that we had found. I bought a sandwich, some water and two cans of Pokéfood. We paid for our stuff and headed back. Tyler was quiet, again, and it seemed strange to I start a conversation. So we had another silent walk.
In the gym, me and Tyler sat down on the benches, let out our Pokemon and begun eating.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to, but I asked him.
“Hey, Ty, I didn't mean to annoy you or make you feel bad. I'm sorry.”
“Oh...it's okay, I suppose.” He muttered back, not even looking at me. I felt hurt.
When finally finished, we went to the training field, which was a grassy terrain behind the gym.
“Great, you're here!” said Volkner “Let's start our training then!”
We agreed and waited for upcoming commands.
“Tyler, I'd start with your Riolu, since it's your newest Pokemon. First you should work on that Force Palm, get some more power in it.”
Tyler called out Riolu and the two of them went to a nearby rock, which Riolu started punching.
“Now, Rochelle, I think you should start with your Delphox. I'd try training up Flame Charge - power and speed. Try using Shadow Ball and then charging into it.”
We moved to an open area and did as told.
“Delphox, Shadow Ball and then Flame Charge!”
Delphox launched her attack into the sky, covered herself in flames and charged towards the ball of energy. She managed to hit it but took some damage, too.
We tried again and again, working on that move for almost an hour, but it wasn't boring. Sometimes Volkner came and gave us some tips. For example he suggested changing the power of the Shadow Ball, too.
“Delphox, more power into both attacks!”
She charged a full powered Shadow Ball, covered herself in flames and charged with incredible speed. The impact was loud and there was a lot of smoke, but when it cleared, I smile broke on my face. Delphox had taken no damage and the ball of energy was destroyed.
I also peeked at Tyler from time to time, to see, how he's doing. Riolus Force Palm was really something. She had full concentration and also did Tyler. He didn't look at me at all, well, not that I was expecting it, but still...
Now he was working with his Mienshao, training up the move Bounce.
They were using a similar technique to us. Mineshao launched an Aura Sphere, jumped up and crashed the ball of energy.
