I shoot up in bed from the throbbing pain of my ankle. I wince as I reach my hand to move the blanket aside at my feet, and then I realize something.
Hozier isn't sitting on my bed, and he's not in a towel.
AND HE'S NOT KISSING ME.
DANGIT.
Before I could throw a mental fit, he rushes to my side, fully dressed, and brings me a pill and a glass of clear liquid.
"What is this?" I ask as he drops the pill into my palm.
"This is a pain reliever. It'll get rid of that pain quickly." I take the water from him and swallow the medicine.
He sits in the chair next to the bed, leaving a lot of space between us. I realize how dry my mouth is and decide it's a good idea to drink the rest of the water.
"You looked like you were having a good dream"
I cough and spit the water out onto the blanket, embarrassed of how he would know it was a fucking great dream.
He looks at the soiled sheets in disappointment and rises.
"I am so sorry."
"That's alright." He sounded very forgiving of me. He brings back a towel (the same one from in my dream) and opens the hope chest beside the window, grabbing a few extra blankets out for the bed.
As I see him over there, I look to the window and see that it's raining, but only lightly.
Maybe. . Maybe it wasn't a dream. .
"Uhm.. what gave it away that I was having a good dream?" I looked at him sheepishly.
"Well.." just then, a whistle filled the room. "Oh no would you like some coffee? "
"Coffee?"
He sat the blankets down on the chair by my bed and gracefully made his way to the stove, reaching into the cabinet and handling two jars in one of his ginormous hands. "Now don't tell me you've never had coffee."
He had begun pouring the blackness into each jar.
"It's not that. . I just don't remember the last time I tried it for the first time."
He leveled the kettle to stop it's contents escaping and he looked back at me with it in hand.
"What did you just say?"
"I mean.." I rolled my thumbs over each other. "I might not have.. had coffee before.."
"Do you not remember having it?"
"No, I don't."
"Okay! I get to make you a great cup of Joe, Hozier style."
Now that sounded sexy. "Okay!"
He set the kettle back on the stovetop and brought me a jar to hold. It was very warm, but not terribly hot.
"So what is in coffee?"
"Well, there's coffee beans, and milk. But mine, there's a special ingredient."
"Oooo a special ingredient. What is it?" I touched my lips to the jar.
"It's-"
I spit the coffee out onto the blanket from it burning my mouth.
"That's so hot!"
"I probably should have said something before you spit on the blanket again."
I know he's annoyed with me now, but I mean hey man, give me a freaking warning next time!
