"I want you.." His words trailed off as he pressed his lips to the mason jar and closed his eyes.
My stomach suddenly felt light and fluffy, like cotton candy. I could taste sweetness on my tongue, but nothing was there to swallow besides my nervousness.
His lips parted from the jar and he locked eyes with me, slowly taking steps in my direction. His water was swishing around in his hand, but not wild enough to spill out from the cup.
"I want you to.." He looked at the floor and I could see a devilish grin growing up his cheeks.
He finally planted both his boots together and as he raised his cup around and above him, he leaned forward, his white smile intimidating me.
".. pick your nose, and eat it!"
"What! No!"
"Well, ya chose "dare"."
"Well, I want to change to Truth! "
"Ya can't change your decision. It's much too late for that, darlin'."
The thick accent coming from Hozier was something I would never be able to forget.
"But.. ... okay, fine."
I raised my index and middle finger to my face. I used my middle finger to pick my nose, but stuck my index finger through my lips, hopefully making it look as though I used the same finger.
I think it worked.
"You just used two different fingers, that's not gonna cut it."
"Hey. .." I looked for a come back but my mind was as blank as paper.
He waited for a response, and when he realized I didn't have one, he approached me with his big dumb grin on his face.
It's so nice to see him happy.
"...What? What's wrong? don't have anything to say? " He ran his fingers under my chin and brought his face closer to mine.
It looked like his eyes were fixed to my lips. When he noticed I had caught him staring at my empty words, his face nicely presented me with a soft pink running across his nose.
I dead stared into his eyes and decided it was my turn to embarrass him.
"Truth or dare, Hozier."
Standing up straight, he removed his soft fingers from my skin, refusing to break eye contact.
"Truth."
He sat in the chair next to the bed, taking sips and watching my eyes.
"Alright.. hmm..." I pretended to think of a question by looking around the room.
Though of course I've had this question in my mind for a few days now.
"Alright, Hozier."
He looked up from his drink and sweetly looked at me with a smile.
"Do you like me?"
I swear this is the calmest he has ever looked and at the same time I'm over here; my hands shaking and heart racing, eager for his response in the same order as in my head.
"You will have to be more specific."
That threw me off guard entirely. How am I supposed to answer that?.. Honestly? Fuck. Fuck.
My mind panicked and I spoke without thinking.
"As a friend." Fuuuuuuuuuu.
"Oh, well, as a friend.. well, you are a good friend, yes." He spoke not-so-confidently.
