Stanley Uris

The sound of your shoes clacking against the wooden floor echoed throughout the synagogue (which is a temple or aka Jewish church). You were headed to Rabbi Uris's office (a Rabbi is like a pastor but again, this is Jewish religion)  to fetch a book he needed for teaching. Your Bat Mitzvah was coming up soon, and you needed to be diligent about preparing for it.  After all, on that day you will finally be considered a woman. Even if you were only going to be 13 years old.  You made your way up the stairs and mumbled lines from your speech to yourself. God this was honestly so stressful. Your plams became sweaty just thinking about being infront of all those people, and worse your parents. No mistakes can be made or you will embarass yourself. Doesn't it sound exciting??

" And from the words of this book I-I-I.... Damn it!!" You smacked your hand against your forehand, hoping it would somehow jolt your stupid memory.  You took a deep breath and tried again.

"And from the words of this book -"

"AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" You jumped back, startled by the petrified scream. From the door of the office a blond, curly haired boy ran out and slammed the door shut.

He was breathing heavily and had a terrified expression on his face. You already knew who he was, Stanley Uris, because he was obviously your Rabbi's son. But you two had never really talked to each other. His Bar Mitzvah was approaching as well, and he wasn't studying nearly as much as he should be. You couldn't talk though, considering your own birthday situation.

"Stan? Is everything alright? You seem a little scared." He looked at you and coughed harshly, his hands still shaking a little.

" Yeah I um just got a little frightened by the-the.....books! That's right those creepy old books! Hahaha..." He laughed nervously and scratched the back of his neck. You giggled at his answer and smiled.

" The Torah isn't going to bite you Stanley." Walking up to the wooden door, you reached for the handle. Before you could turn it an inch, his hand shot out and grabbed yours.

"DON'T!!" He screeched out, eyes bulging out of his head looking just as horrifed as when he came out of the room.

"Okay! Okay! I'm not going in!" You held one hand up (the one that wasn't on the doorknob).

Stanley let out a relieved sigh and closed his eyes. It felt like an eternity before he opened them again. Or maybe that was just because he was still pretty much holding your hand, and it was slowly making you nervous. A blush crept up and spread over your cheeks. Painting your entire face strawberry red. He seemed to notice that you were a little uncomfortable, because he pulled his hand away quickly. The warmth in your fingers soon left, and you somehow missed it a little.

"Sorry! I didn't mean to be a creep or anything.." He trailed off and his voice echoed a little through the hall. You both stood there, in a bit of an awkward silence. You rocked back and forth on your feet while he fiddled with the watch on his wrist.

"Soooo..... Since I can't go in the room.... Do you happen to have a Torah I can use to study??" As much as you wanted to keep Stan happy and not go in his dad's office, your Bat Mitzvah was still going to happen. No matter what.

"Oh yeah! O-Of course! We can study together. If that's alright with you because you know both our birthdays are coming up soon and It's always nice to have someone to help with preparing. There's also some pretty cool birds that fly around by my house that you can take pictures of since you love photography. I mean I haven't been stalking you! I promise! I just noticed a few things here and there since we're both here often and-"

"Yes! Thank you Stanley for that wonderful speech! Save it for your Bar Mitzvah." You laughed out loud and grinned at him. He bit his lip and glanced away clearly embarassed for a minute.

" I would love to study with you. My bike's parked outside, you down to work now?" He smiled at me and linked our arms together.

"Of course! Are you (y/n)?" And with that, you waltzed right out of the synagogue, headed for his house, and spent the rest of the day laughing, communicating in Hebrew, and eating.

Stan didn't even think about his worries about the lady with the flute when he was with you....

Or the fact that y'all never brought Rabbi Uris his book, and now you're both in big trouble.....

(Wow guys that was a lot of Jewish terminology! If you didn't know, Bat is for girls and Bar is for boys. In case that may have confused you at all🙃 But hey I'm like halfway done with all the Losers for how y'all met! Yayayay! Make sure to leave requests for what I'll be writing when I'm done. Ciao Losers😘)
