Richie Tozier
"Crap!" You thought to yourself as you slipped over a wet rock and fell flat on your butt. After a fun day at the quarry with you friends from school, you had a long walk home. You had decided to take a "shortcut" and follow the riverline back into town, but that was proving to be a stupid idea right now. You grumbled as you pushed yourself off of the ground and returned to a standing position.
"Okay. Just take it easy. Nice and slow, watch your step (y/n)." You directed yourself step by step in your head. You actually were making it pretty far now! You could see the big sewer tunnel just up ahead. Which could only mean that you were nearing the Barrens and home wasn't so distant after all! Relief bubbled up in your stomach and you began to walk faster. But not too fast, for the fear that you might topple over again. But just when you noticed two boys standing at the entrance of the tunnel and yelling inside, you were struck from behind. A huge force suddenly shoved you over and you tumbled like a ball a few feet down the river. Your head banged a few rocks on the way down and there was a large gash on the side of your leg. Your vision was slightly blurry when you looked up, but you didn't skip a beat when confronting whatever had just hurt you.
" WHAT THE HELL!! " You clutched your throbbing head with both hands and squeezed down, hoping to num the pain. The attacker let out a small whimper at the sound of your voice. Good, at least now you were scaring them. They deserved it, whoever they were. Some of the haziness slowly started to leave and you could finally see a little better. That's when you saw Ben, the new kid that you sometimes studied in the library with, in front of you beaten to the core.
" Oh my god Ben!! What happened to you! Are you okay?!! " It took all of your stength to stand up, and even when you did your balance was completely off. But you were determined to help your friend. Or maybe... GET help for your friend. You attempted to drag Ben down across the rocks towards the sewer tunnel. Now, you were closer to the boys you had seen earlier.
"(y/n), I'm sorry about your leg. And your head..." Ben spoke quietly to you and you nodded your head. Hell, even just that simple motion was extremely painful for you right now. What was your mom gonna say when you came home with a concussion??
" It's fine Ben, don't worry about it. HEY! HEY! HELP! CAN YOU GUYS HELP US! MY FRIEND'S REALLY HURT!!" First you saw the blonde haired boy whip his head around. Then a short kid with a fanny pack followed his line of sight. Finally, two more boys emerged from inside the tunnel and looked over at you struggling to hold up Ben. One had black hair and glasses, and the other was Bill Denbrough from your English class.
"Holy shit what happened to you!?!" The one with raven hair shouted as the boys who were outside the tunnel, blondie and fanny pack, came racing over to help you guys onto land.
" Judging by the H carved into his stomach, I'd said Henry Bowers." You breathed heavily as you spoke to glasses. A rush of fatigue came over you and you fell onto his shoulder.
" Whoa, whoa! You're moving a little too fast there for me!!"
" Ri-Ri- Richie shut up!! Look at her leg! S-s-s-she's hurt too!" Bill stuttered out his words and walked over to you.
"F-f-f-eeling alright (y/n)??"
" Yeah, yeah! Just a small concussion! That's.....all..." Your last words trailed off as you tried with all your might to pull youself off of the chatterbox you were currently leaning on.
" Uhh, no! It's fine! I'll piggyback you to my bike. Then you can ride with us back home." He pushed up his thick glasses and looked down at you.
" Thanks. Ronald."
"It's Richie, and no problem."
"Sorry, I just can't think right now..." And with that he carried you all the way to the tree where all their bikes were parked. Ben hopped on with Bill and they all began pedaling through the forest. Richie placed you down on the back half of his bike seat.
" Are you on good hot stuff??" He smiled at you and boarded the front of his bike, pushing the kickstand up. You laughed as much as your head could take. Which wasn't a lot, so the sound that emitted from your mouth was alomst whisper - like.
"It's (y/n), and yes I am. Thank you." You wrapped your arms around his waist and he tensed up slightly, before relaxing.
" I knew that. I was just messing around! Hey, maybe you can make it up to me by hanging out with us this summer. You know, when that head-problem of yours goes away." He scratched the back of his neck and pedaled foward quickly to catch up with the guys. You could tell from the tone in his voice that he was a little nervous.
"Yeah, maybe." Richie laughed at your response, probably because he was thinking the same thing you were.
It was totally not a maybe. Richie Tozier was definitely going to be a part of your summer this year, and you couldn't have been more excited for it.
