Chapter 30

CADENCE'S POV

Watching Luke walk out the door left me with a feeling of relief. Today showed me that what we had wasn't love. We had passion but that was it. I don't know what the future holds for me. What I do know is that I'm going to be ok.

When my head hits the soft pillow, I fall asleep so fast. With all the emotional shit I've been going through, it's leaving me completely and utterly exhausted.

"You have to keep up mon amour. We are running late!"

"Stephan slow down. We have plenty of time to get there."

"I can't help it. I'm so excited we are getting our baby today!"

"I know mon frenchie. I'm excited too but slow down or you're going to get hit by a car. I don't want to lose my husband on the same day we get our baby!"

He stops and pulls me into him. When he cups my face and looks into my eyes, I see nothing but love. This man loves me with all his heart and I love him with every piece of me. "Our dream could have come true but you walked out instead of fighting for us."

"What are you talking about Stephan? We are getting our baby today." I say with tears falling down my face.

"If you would have just listened to your heart from the start we would be. Your choices led us away from ever having this future." He steps away and slowly disappears.

"What is going on? Stephan please come back! I need you! I need your love! Please come back!" My legs give out on me and I fall to the ground sobbing my heart out alone. The streets are empty. The only sound surrounding me is my heart breaking, tears falling, and my screams echoing in the air.

"Cadence, Bruce is waiting for you to throw the ball." Tyler says while giving me a sexy smirk.

"Well Bruce is as impatient as you." I say laughing and throw the ball across the park.

"I'm only impatient cause I've been waiting for you to pick a date for 4 months!" Tyler says with a bit of annoyance in his voice.

"Fine you want a date? How about now?" His jaw drops and he has confusion on his face. I love doing this to him. But I've been planning everything since he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.

"What do you mean now? We don't have anything planned!" He says freaking out and so confused. I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it so amusing.

"That's where you're wrong my love. I have the dress, Sarah Beth got certified to marry us, you're parents got here last night, and everything is ready to go on the beach where I spread my moms ashes. They are just waiting on us. So what do you say? You ready to lock me down?"

He runs towards me and disappears just before reaching me. I look around and he's nowhere to be found. Where's Tyler? Where's Bruce? I crumble to the ground.

Why does everyone keep disappearing on me? My torn apart heart haunts my dreams. I can't do this anymore. I pull my knees up to my chest and rest my head on them. I can't believe he's gone.

I'm snapped out of my thoughts when I hear the ocean waves crashing on the shore. I'm standing there painting the same ocean where I spread my mom's ashes. I painted her standing on the water in a teal summer dress. It was her favorite color and she lived in summer dresses. Her long hair was blowing in the wind, and her hazel eyes stood out the most. Its like they are looking into my soul and pulling out of me what I truly want. "My sweet girl. It's ok."

"Mom!" I turn around and there she is, standing behind me.

"Baby I know this has been a hard road for you. I didn't want you to ever have to deal with any of what I did. But like me, you can make it through all of this. You know what your heart is truly wanting. You just have to stop being so closed off and stubborn to listen to it. It will be ok."
