Chapter 5: Personal Assistant

Nalungkot ako nang makita ko si Adam all set to go to work. Nagtaka ako it's only 6:00 o'clock in the morning. Gusto ko sana siyang tanungin why he's so early for work. But I chose to purse my mouth. I guess no breakfast date with him today Alex.

"Good morning." I said.

Adam looked at me. He didn't say a word. He grabbed his things and walked to the door.

"Good morning to you too, Alex!"
I murmered to myself.

Again, Adam ignored me. I just stood there looking so stupid. I couldn't help myself but to feel sad. I am not used to this kind of treatment. I didn't realize a tear escaped from my eyes. I quickly wiped it.

I was about to go to the kitchen when a strong arm grabbed me from the waist and hugged me. To my surprise he quickly kissed me on the lips.

"Good morning too, love! I'll see you at work today." And then he left.

Shocked. What just happened? Was it a dream? Did he actually kiss me? I stood there for a couple of minutes touching my lips trying to absorb what really happened.

"He kissed me! He kissed me! Adam kissed me!" Paulit-ulit kong sabi sa sarili ko.

I ran to the door and saw Adam's car leaving the house. He looked at me and waved his hand.

Oh my God! It was real. I couldn't contain myself from too much happiness. I stood there like crazy feeling like a tweener. My eyes grew bigger when I realized what he said after the kiss.

"I'll see you at work today."
Parang echo na paulit-ulit sa tenga ko.

Wait. I'm going to work today? I asked him last night if I could work again. What I meant was to manage my flower shop again. It was Nadia taking good care of it right now. We're business partners.

A bit confused about Adam's decision. I still need to get ready and talk to him. Then my phone rang.

Napakunot ang noo ko when I saw unregistered number flashing on the screen of my phone. Nagtataka man I picked up the phone and answered it.

"Hello."

"Good morning Ma'am! May I speak with Alexandra Robles."

"Good morning too. Yes, this is she. How may I help you?"

"My name is Tanya I am Mr. Villegas secretary. I was instructed by Mr. Villegas to let you know that today will be your first day of work."

"What?"

Nagtataka ako kung bakit kailangan pa niyang ibilin sa secretary niya ang tungkol dito. We live in the same house for Pete's sake he should have told me. Sana isinabay na lang niya ako sa pagpasok sa opisina. At bakit kailangan niyang umalis ng napakaaga. Para namang naintindihan ni Tanya ang mga tanong na tumatakbo sa isip ko.

"Mr.Villegas has a breakfast meeting today with a client. Also, he told me to orient you as soon as you get here at the office."

"Okay then. I'll be there shortly.
Thank you. Tanya." I ended the call.

Mabilis ang mga kilos kong naghanda ako para pumasok sa trabaho. I took a quick shower. I decided to wear a black pencil cut skirt paired with a blue body hugging blouse and a pair of black pump shoes. I put a light make up on my face. Hinayaan ko na lang nakalugay ang mahaba at itim kong buhok. Satisfied about my look, I stepped out of my room and headed to the kitchen.

I ate my cereal and I drank my milk. I brushed my teeth and headed to the door.

Nagtaka ako ng may isang itim na sasakyan ang nakaparada at naghihintay sa akin.
