Obi-wan laughed as he looked under the table in the living room. A tiny high-pitched yet muffled laughter filled the room. Obi-wan turned around as he scanned the room. He heard small feet running while his head was turned, but he looked back too late. The owner of the footsteps was gone.
"You'll never find me, daddy!" A little girl called out in the small room. Obi-wan laughed more and continued to look around. Every time he turned his back his heard footsteps, yet was always too late to see who it was.
As he was looking around, he heard his holo-comm start beeping. Obi-wan turned around and walked over to the small table beside the couch. He picked up the small device and sat down then answered it.
"Maul, aren't you suppose to be working right now?" Obi-wan asked before the hologram appear
"He was, but were done now!" Feral's voice and hologram appeared from the holo-comm.
"Feral?! What are you doing with Maul's holo-comm?" Obi-wan wasn't too happy to see Feral using his mate's holo-comm, but he was happy to see Feral.
"Uncle Feral!" A little Zabrak girl with tan skin and blue eyes and brown hair burst from behind the couch, running over to Obi-wan and flung herself onto his lap.
"Novae! Hey there, sweetie! My, your horns certainly have grown since the last time I've seen you!" Feral began until Obi-wan cut him off.
"Wait. Feral, how exactly did you get a hold of Maul's holo-comm? Is he okay?" Obi-wan's momentary panic had even confused Novae.
"Maul's-"
"Feral! Have you seen my holo-comm? Obi-wan is going to be worried sick if I don't check in with him already!" Maul's voice boomed through the holo-comm.
Feral let out a nervous laugh before continuing. "He's perfectly fine, Obi-wan."
"Feral." Maul's hologram appeared on the hologram along with Feral's and the next thing Obi-wan sees is darkness from the holo-comm. After a moment, Maul appears in the hologram glaring at who Obi-wan guess was Feral, who was no longer showing on the hologram.
"Papa!" Novae happily cheered once she saw Maul.
"Maul. What are you doing on Dathomir?" Obi-wan asked in a calm manner.
"Mother had summoned my presence here." Maul simply explained
"Has she foreseen some unseen danger again, Maul?" Obi-wan rolled his eyes as he leaned back into the couch, resting his chin on his palm.
"Obi-wan," Maul sighed in defeated and Obi-wan took Novae off of his lap and set her next to him before standing up and walking back to his bedroom.
"Oh, come on, Maul! I don't even remember how many times it's been already that she's asked for us to come and live on Dathomir. It's too dangerous! Stewjon is a safe planet that's tucked away from Sidious and Dooku.
"Obi-wan, you won't even let me teach her how to use the Force!" A hint of a growl showed its way through Maul's voice.
"You don't understand Maul! We don't know if she even has the ability to use the Force. there could be a chance,"
"You know she has it, Obi-wan. We both sensed it the moment she was born."
"Yes, but the stronger she gets Sidious or Dooku could sense her."
"You're worrying too much, Obi-wan." Maul concluded, "Sidious and Dooku have as much of a chance at finding her on Dathomir as they are finding her on Stewjon."
As Maul continued, Obi-wan was so enthralled in talking to Maul, he didn't hear Novae calling out to him or notice the holo-comm glitch for a split second.
"You know Mother can conceal her presence on the planet."
"Yes, but it's the first place Sidious and Dooku will look." Obi-wan started, "All three of you have been lured in by the dark side."
"Lured in?! You make it seem like we had a choice! Sidious and Dooku stole us from our home!" Maul started to raise his voice.
"Exactly Maul! They are after your blood! Feral said it himself when me, him and Savage were on Dooku's ship! Dooku is after those people in your family because of your connection with the dark side! You and Feral alone being here puts Novae at risk!"
"So you're just saying I should stay away from you and Novae." Maul stated in his calm manner and this had put Obi-wan into a shocked state. "I see how it is, Kenobi."
"What? N-No! Maul!" Obi-wan tried to keep talking to Maul until Maul disconnected their call. There was a long moment of silence before a small voice broke the silence.
"Daddy? Are you angry at Papa?" Novae's small voice was enough to cause Obi-wan to jump as he turned to see her.
"What?" Obi-wan asked still caught up with what just happened, then he quickly moved over to his daughter and knelt in front of her. "No, sweetie. Daddy's not angry at Papa. Daddy and Papa are not angry with each other, we just had a little disagreement."
"About me?" Novae asked
"About your safety sweetie. We don't want you to get hurt. Me and Papa just see different ways of protecting you and Papa doesn't like it, that I don't agree with him." Obi-wan tried explaining it to her.
"Is Papa coming home?" Novae asked with sadness and confusion written on her face.
"Of course Papa is coming home, Novae! He's just going to spend some time visiting Uncle Feral and Grandma." Obi-wan tried to keep her from becoming upset.
"Will we ever go and visit them?" Novae asked
"Maybe one day, Novae. Now then, it's lunchtime, go get washed up and I'll make you some sandwiches." Obi-wan said quickly changing the subject
"Alright!" Novae smile once she heard the word 'sandwiches,' and ran off to the bathroom. Obi-wan sighed as he stood up. He sure hoped that Maul would come back soon or else both him and Novae would be worried about him. Obi-wan was scared that Maul would actually stay away for a long time due to Maul calling him by his last name. Obi-wan could only remember Maul calling him Kenobi back when they were enemies.
Obi-wan wanted to just sit down and meditate on the matter, but he knew that he had to make his daughter her lunch. all Obi-wan could hope for was that Novae wouldn't bring up this subject again during lunch.
