The Saw

I shove the bag to Tessa then darted down towards the grocery store that was next door, something grabs my foot causing me to crash onto the floor, making me land on my elbow.

A roamer climbs over my legs I grimace, but Dakota grabs it by the hair and stabs it by the forehead making the blood go on my shirt, without asking he grabs my hand then yanks me up.

"Don't thank me." Dakota said before running down the aisle, Gordon tumbles onto the ground, he looks as if he's about to die. His hand was bloody, he trembles as he covers his hand.

"No no no no...." Gordon mumbles, Bill runs towards him.

"Fuck!" Gordon whimpers.

"Grab him." Dakota orders, I grab ahold of Gordon, using my shoulder to support his body then followed Dakota into the back room.

There were butchered meat inside, flies were surrounding a corpse that laid on the group, I put Gordon on the table. Dakota takes off his belt.

"What are you gonna do?" Bill asks, Dakota ignores him hey.

"Hey!!" Bill snaps, Dakota glares at him.

"Avery hold Gordon down." Dakota instructs, Tessa walks inside.

I hold Gordon down, so does Bill, Tessa rummages inside the bag.
Dakota walks back out with a saw in his hands, he walks over to Gordon's right arm, I could feek Gordon's heartbeat go faster.

"Gordon." I said, trying to calm him down. "We're going to have to cut it off." I said grimly. His heartbeat goes faster.

The undead begun to growl and pound at the door from outside.

I tighten the belt as I gaze at the teeth that were deeply marked into Gordon's bloody arm.

"Jesus..." Tessa whispers, her eyes glistening with tears.

Dakota places the saw over Gordon's arm, I could feel my heart beating like a hammer.

"Do it." Gordon said.

"This is going to hurt like shit." Dakota warns.

"Could you be more blunt?" I ask.

"Tessa! Make sure they don't get in!!!!" Bill yells, running towards the double doors and keeping them closed.

"Dakota, calm him down." I said, Dakota grunts.

"I'll go as fast as I can, just close your eyes." Dakota instructs, Bill grimaces, Dakota places the saw on Gordon's arm.

"Fuck." Dakota mutters.

I grab one of the bandages and placed it into Gordon's mouth, before I could get myself ready Dakota saws into Gordon's arm, he struggles to keep sawing, Gordon opens his mouth, yelling.

"Avery, save all of our asses keep him down." Dakota said, I scowl at Dakota, he just keeps sawing down Gordon's arm, tears start to go down his cheeks.

I put my hand over his mouth, as Dakota manages to saw the whole arm off, Gordon rolls his eyes to the back of his head, I quickly wrap the bandage around the remaining of his arm. I grab his left arm then hurriedly walked towards the back door.

"Get in the van, if we don't come out, drive." Dakota instructs. "No." I snap. The roamers shatter the window, Tessa and Bill begun

"Avery, get your head out of your ass and move." Dakota snaps, I nod then walked towards the van as fast as I could, Gordon is heavy for sure, I see Zayn at the car, his jaw drops when he sees me with Gordon.

"Where is everyone?!" Zayn asks.

"In the store, take Gordon." I said, call me a dumbass but I'm not having anymore of my friends get killed.

I'm going to have to be a dumbass just this once.

I dart back towards the store, Dakota pulls Tessa by the back of her collar, jerking back.

"Go!" Bill yells, turning his back from the window.

"Get away from the windows!" I yell, but it's too late, they bite into his forehead, his neck and they begun to dig their fingers into his chest.

"Bill no!!!!" Tessa yells. I yank her back, shooting two roamers by the head.

I run, pulling Tessa back outside, we run towards the van, climbing inside.

"Where's Bill?" Zayn asks.

"Gone." Tessa said between sobs, I reach out to comfort her but she immediately backs away from me.

"Don't touch me." She growls.

"I'm sorry." I said.

"Tessa, you would've also died if Avery didn't run after us." Dakota said.

"Fuck off." Tessa snaps as the van rushes away from the grocery store.

"Is this what you do? Get people you know killed?!" Tessa snaps.

"Don't you have a sister?" Tessa asks.

Dakota glares at Tessa, I stop him by holding my hand out. I'm becoming too soft, too nice. I can't be Aurei's friend and her sister at the same time, I'm going to have to teach her the things she knows.

"What if she gets killed?" Tessa asks, I couldn't control myself.

I wrap my fingers around Tessa's neck, she opens her mouth for air. Alexandra grabs my shoulders but I kept shaking her, I loosen my grip then slammed her body against the wall.

"Control yourself." Dakota growls, squeezing my shoulders.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Tessa asks.

"My sister is going to live and if I have to be dead for that to happen then so be it. But you're going to shut the hell up right now." I hiss, everyone grew silent.

Dakota gives me a hard stare, enough to send chills down my spine.

"I'm not afraid of you so stop looking at me like that." I snap.

"You should be." Dakota growls.

But I'm afraid of myself, I've been rubbing off on Aurei lately, whatever is happening to me right now, I'm going to have to keep distance.

"At what cost?" Tessa asks quietly.

"What?" I ask, keeping my voice low.

"Why are you even alive when all you do is kiss ass and be easy on your sister??" Tessa asks, Dakota furrows his eyebrows.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"I saw you beg for your sister's position to be a guard. May I remind you that she's thirteen years old? She needs to learn her place, and that's not for her." Tessa snaps.

"Aurei is smart for one, I just asked Fernando if it's okay, second she's a great shot. Third, I have a friend watching her, so if Aurei did step out of line she wouldn't be one of the guards anymore, she's not your kid." I said, Alexandra purses her lips.

"Right now we have the dead on our asses, now is not the time for some damn drama." Dakota snaps.

"Shut up, like you're any better...." Tessa said, rolling her eyes.

"And besides she's practicing her aim, so back off." I snap.

"Excuse me for saying I don't want a child getting shot and killed while defending an adult's job." Tessa said, rolling her eyes.

"This isn't the same world, you and I both know that." I hiss.

"I can see it now..." Tessa says.

"Do you ever know how to shut up?" Dakota snaps.

"You whining and bitching like a damn toddler isn't going to make anything better and that goes to the both of you, so sit down, count to ten and calm the fuck down." Dakota yells, everyone goes silent.

I close my eyes, Dakota's right, I can't solve my problems by going crazy and strangle people.
