Chapter 14
Over the next few weeks, the contestants carried on passing the tasks. Ashton passed his task of hitting the targets with a bow and arrow, Emma passed her task of staying on the spinning bull, Lucy passed her task of putting her hands in various holes to obtain the keys, and Ray passed his task of non-stop exercising on an exercise bike for three hours, by which at the end, he was absolutely exhausted.
All that time, every single contestant was thinking the same thing - am I the next to go? They had saw through the voting the month before that anything could happen, and although everybody (including Ray) suspected that Ray was the next to go, nobody could be completely certain.
After a month of a few debates, tension between the women in the house, and boredom, it was finally voting time. To every contestant, the whole month was building up to that point. This month, there had been little action because everyone knew that they had to behave in the best way that they could, or else they would get voted out. Everyone also knew that everybody else knew that, so they started to think back, and went for who they thought everybody else would go for.
This time, it was Lucy's turn to vote first.
"I'm voting for Jack", she said, "because I feel really awkward in his presence, and I don't want him around me anymore. As nasty as it sounds, I don't like Jack very much, and I think that he is a very flirtatious person, and he does not leave me alone, so that's why I'm voting for him".
Jack looked at Lucy with puppy-dog eyes. Lucy tried to ignore it, but she just glanced at him, and inside, she felt sorry for him.
Next to vote was Ruth.
"My vote is for Ray", she said, showing no emotion at all - almost proud at the fact that she had voted for him. "I think that he's been trying his best to cover up everything he's done, and he's tried to prove that he's a good person, even though he's not", Ruth continued, "and also, he's good at passing the tasks, but I think that now almost everybody has done one, we can get better and better at passing them, so we do not need Ray any more". Ruth finally finished speaking.
Next to vote was Ashton.
"I think that we do need Ray, contrary to Ruth's opinion", he said, "So I'm voting for Jack. Like Lucy, I feel uncomfortable in his presence, because I know what he's like, and I just don't like him. Sorry".
Next to vote was Ray. He voted for Jack, too, but he was making up his reasons - his real reason for voting was the fact that he knew that some of the others were bound to vote for him, so he thought he was in for a chance".
After Ray, Jack voted.
"I'm voting for Ray", he said, "and that's because I can remember what he was like at the start of the competition. He seems to have replaced Piers a little bit, and he does not seem to understand that we voted for Piers for the same reasons we are voting for you now". It was now beginning to get very tense in the room. Nobody knew if Paul was given the right to vote or not, because nobody could vote for him. If Paul was not allowed to vote, Jack only needed one more vote, and then he would be gone. Jack's heart was beating fast, and the rest of the contestants knew it. The two people, who were left, Molly and Emma, knew who they were voting for, but nobody else did. Molly was next to vote.
