Chapter 7

Over the next few days, people started to change in the house. Lucy was growing more and more nervous of her surroundings, as she was paranoid that everyone in there was out to get her.

"Well, at least he's gone", said Ray, "no more fights". Some of the contestants agreed, but others were outraged. "How can you say that about somebody?" asked Margaret, "how can you be glad that somebody is dead?"

"So, you're telling me you'd rather be in here with him?"

"I'd rather not be in here at all!"

"Oh, so we should vote for you next?"

"No! I'm not saying that!"

Emma decided to interrupt before things got out of hand. "Just leave it, OK?" she asked them, "I don't want everybody to start fighting".

"And what's this got to do with you?" said Ray, who was feeling very defensive and aggressive. "I don't want to see people get hurt, that's all!"

"What about yourself? You want to see yourself get hurt?"

"What are you talking about, Ray?"

"Come over here and I'll smash your face in!"

Emma looked at Ray, who seemed to be growing slightly more psychotic. "Why are you saying those things?" she asked, "what have I done to you?"

"When I have an argument with someone, it's my business, and nobody else's. Just remember that!"

Emma decided to walk away at that point, into the garden.

A couple of days later, task day arrived. So far, the contestants had passed all four tasks, and they were hoping to keep going with that. They were not prepared to starve for a week yet. That doomed voice eventually said to the house that morning, "this is The Leader. The person doing the task this week is..."

As usual, there was a large pause in the voice, to create more and more tension.

"...Margaret".

Margaret shot up, and held her head in her hands.

"I suppose this is it, then", said Margaret

Slowly, a terrified Margaret approached the task room. There was so much tension before she opened the mysterious door to the room of the unknown.

When she opened it, she screamed - there were five tanks, and in the tanks, there were crocodiles, lobsters, crabs, eels and other horrific sea creatures!

The door closed, and the voice started. "Margaret", said the voice, "welcome to your first task. As you can see, you have to get into each of the five tanks in order to gain stars. There are two stars in each of the tanks, meaning that you have to get ten stars in total. If you do not get all ten stars, you will fail the task, and you and the rest of the house will starve. When you get a star, get out of the tub and place it into the slot, where it will be counted as one star. You have five minutes to get the pass and get out of the room. Your time starts now".
