It was a Monday afternoon. All was going well in my life. I was a 19 year old student at my local university, and I was interested in science, cooking, swords, and a whole slew of other stuff. So one day I was using a science lab the University thankfully let me use. I was on summer break and decided to fiddle around with some chemicals I could barely pronounce. Everything went well until one day I was experimenting with a chemical formula I made and had some brownies going in the next room (the lab is right next door to my dorm), so as the oven went off I took them out and set them on the counter to cool.
Once I came back I noticed the chemicals I made started to crystallize. Naturally I was excited, and that's when everything went to Hell. I became so excited that my clumsiness came out and I knocked over the chemicals and the crystal. Then the biggest explosion happened with me at Ground Zero. I noticed something odd less than a second later. I could feel every atom in my body change, I could feel them separate, combine, and absorb energy.
Then everything went black.
When I woke up I felt like I went through a black hole head first; which is a bad thing to do, look it up. My body was racked with pain and my bones and organs felt like they were on fire. When I could see, I looked around and I noticed I was in some kind of forest, with oak, pine, and other trees all around me. Then I saw it, a giant circle in the air with my lab on the other side. The hole was smaller than I was, about 3 feet tall and 1 and a half feet across. I noticed something else. The hole, no portal, was getting smaller.
It was closing, and fast. I tried to get my body to move, but the best I could do was move my arms as I could only watch in horror as I saw my life, my home, my whole world, gone.
This is when my story really gets good.
