Once the portal closed, I collapsed on the ground once again, feeling the world turn black.

After what seems like days, I wake up and slowly sat up, the pain in my body now gone, but my legs very heavy from lack of use. I looked around, trying to figure out where I was. It looked like I was in some kind of forest, with tall trees, almost reaching the sky all around me. There were various berry bushes, plants, and wildlife around me as well.

A couple hours later, I was able to move my legs. I looked around me and I saw something strange: a few of my things went with me in the blast. The crystal from my lab, rather than being about the size of a golf ball, was now the size of a fist and had this weird felling about it, something I couldn't put my finger on just yet. I also saw a key right next to me. It was an average brass key, about three inches long with two notches at the front and a small ring at the end. It was weird because I don't remember a key like this at all, neither in my lab nor before the blast.

I looked down and realized yet another strange thing, I wasn't wearing the same clothes as before the accident. Instead of a plain red T-shirt, jeans, glasses to help me see, and a white lab coat, I was wearing a black shirt with white streaks, black pants, and a large coat/cape sort of thing where it hung like a cape behind my back, yet it didn't have sleeves and was big enough to wrap around me like a coat, it even had many pockets like a trench coat. My glasses were gone too!

I gathered the crystal and the key and slowly stood up, weak from hunger and thirst. Another strange thing was that as I looked around, I noticed various plants that were edible. The thing was, I never been camping, so prior to the blast, I couldn't tell a mushroom from a poisonous toadstool. I also knew how to make a fire and how to hunt, gut, clean, and cook animals.

Something strange definitely happened when I blew up, and soon I would know what.

Three weeks later

I slowly walked around the forest, fashioning a spear, bow and arrow from parts I found in the woods, getting ready to hunt a giant deer. At least I think it was a deer. It had antlers, stood on hooves, and was the same size, but it was purple instead of brown and had a long tail. I killed the animal and took it to my temporary camp, where I used a makeshift stone knife to carve it up, remove the organs, and put small hunks of meat on a large, sharp stick and cook it. It was getting late, so the fire provided decent light, keeping away creatures and predators away while I ate in peace, with the sounds of a small stream and crickets in the night.

I was following the stream because I knew there there was water, civilization was near.

The first few days after the accident, I prayed to every diety I could think of. I seemed to lose all hope. I had no idea where on Earth I was, even if I was on Earth for that matter. I also became stronger, faster, and smarter with each passing day. It was almost like the blast changed my very being.

When I was done with my dinner, I tossed more wood into the fire and looked up at the night sky, the beautiful night sky, filled with stars and a universe that looked alien to me strangely gave me a sense of peace as I used my coat/cape as a blanket, leaned against a fallen tree and fell asleep.
