Reunion

It was within a mere week that the Volturi gathered its forces and headed towards Texas leaving Sulipica in charge of the castle.

It was not long before they were in Texas and soon after that, face to face with Bella and Edward Cullen.

"What is this absolute nuisance Bella?" Mia asked.

"Nuisance? I don't know what you're talking about. I'm only doing what's for the best." She said bitterly.

"You're a threat to the Volturi!" Aro hissed.

"Yes. I am. We are." Bella replied.

"I hope you do realize that this crime demands your execution." Mia said in her now well known, authoritive voice. "It won't be long darling, I shall be signing your death warrant."

"Funny, how confident you are that you will win this fight." Bella remarked, eyes narrowed to slits.

"I know i won't lose this battle, Bella. Once, not so long ago, Texas took away my everything from me. I won't let it happen again." Mia said.

"You don't stand a chance."

"I don't see how I don't."

"You're still the overconfident brat aren't you?" Bella asked laughing bitterly. "Still so smug."

"Bella, I really have no idea how it all came down to this. We were never the best of friends. But really? Are you honestly willing to come to such lengths?" Mia asked. "It was supposed to be a rivalry between two sisters!"

"And yet, you didn't hesitate to gather forces." Bella commented.

"You raised armies!" Mia nearly yelled, almost losing his composure. "You are the one to talk."

"You took away my everything!" Bella yelled. "Every time I thought I did something good, you did better. Every time I bought something and felt good about it, you got better. Every time, Amelia, every time! Since we were small children, up until now. It has always been a competition!"

"And it was you competing with yourself! I lived my life the way I wanted to." Mia said. "There was never a competition. You did what you had to, and I, what I had to."

"Well, too late now, isn't it?" Bella said. "It's done. I have my army. And you have yours. It's finally time for me to win."

"Bella, you're making a mistake!" Alice interjected.

"And you. You were supposed to be on my side!" Bella said. "We were supposed to be family. Not you and them."

"We will be!" Alice said. "Just come to your senses." When she noticed that Bella was unaffected, she turned to Edward. "Edward! Why? Talk to Bella! You know how this will end. Edward, you do. Why are you with her? We're family. Come back to us."

"I'm sorry Alice. I truly am. But Bella is my mate. She's my wife. I cannot live without her. And she cannot live like this. I must." Edward replied, and he did look apologetic.

"She is not your mate!" Aro said. "She's your La Tua Cantante. There's a difference Edward!"

"That is true." Marcus said. "Edward, she is not your mate. You can read minds, read mine. You know it is the truth. Join the right side, boy."

Edward looked a little torn for a few moments before Bella kept her hand on his chest and one on his forearm. Edward closed his eyes.

"My right side is with Bella. I can't...I won't leave her." He replied though looking a little pained.

"Bella!" Mia exclaimed. "I'll give you a chance. Redeem yourself, darling. I'll spare you. You'll live at the Queen's will. You will be known as the Queen's relative. Her sister."

"And then I'll live my existence in service to you. Alice for as long as you show mercy. Alice as long as you will it." Bella said bitterly. "I'll be the Queen's sister. But I'll never be superior will I? I'll never be Queen."
