Jackson's POV

We spent almost two hours in the diner. I couldn't stop looking at Skye. I didn't want to stop dwelling in the moment. When I decided to give Skylar the watch my body went numb. Hearing him say yes made me go on cloud nine. The watch was originally a gift to me from my dad. He gave it to me on my sixteenth birthday. It didn't fit me anymore, it's just been lying around so I had it cleaned. It was just a little loose on Skylar, other than that it was perfect on him. He accepted it, but I don't know how he took it. Giving a watch to a crush doesn't just mean you step things up a level, you go up like seven.

We left the restaurant hand and hand. The snow had stopped but it left a thin white blanket on the ground. Our footprints could be seen with every step. When we reached my truck I opened the door for him. It was probably a little unnecessary but I wanted to. I got in next to him and placed my hand on his thigh. I would say that's my signature move but it probably makes me sound like a douche. I went to start to the truck, the engine fought but it died after a few purrs.

"Damn it." I mumbled. I tried it again with no success. I got out of the truck with a groan and a slam of the door. I cursed under my breath while lifting the hood. I knew what the issue was but I wanted to see for myself. "Babe, try to start her up." I waited until I heard the engine trying to start. My dad taught me quite a bit about trucks but nothing about an engine that doesn't start when it's cold. Last time coach told me to just let it warm up a bit. Maybe if someone gives me a jump it'll speed things up a bit.

I walked around to the passenger door and Skylar opened it.

"Everything okay?" he asked turning his body toward me.

"It will be. I'm going to go see if someone will give us a jump. You want to come in to keep warm?"

"I'm fine."

"You sure? It's like twenty degrees out here." Skylar nodded. "Well here, at least take my jacket." Jackson took off his letterman and wrapped it around him.

Skylar's POV

Jackson walked back to the diner with his hands shoved deep inside his pockets. I could tell he was freezing. With everyone of his breaths it looked like he was puffing out smoke. He really didn't have to give me his jacket but I knew he wasn't going to let me reject it. I snuggled up in it to try to get warmer. It smelled like his cologne, I smiled as I took in a whiff of it. I've grown to know his scent, my boyfriend's scent. Damn that's weird to say. I looked at the watch on my wrist again. I felt bad because the watch must have ran him a couple of hundreds, maybe even more. When he does things like this I don't see him as the star running back. No one else on that team would know how to be anywhere near as thoughtful as Jackson. His past was a little too shaky for me but how could I not look pass it when he's being so amazing. I took off the watch to get a better look at everything. There wasn't a scratch to be seen. The metal felt smooth against my skin. An hour into the relationship and he's already a better boyfriend. I went to put the watch back on when I noticed something on the inside of it. I brought it closer to my eyes. There was a small engraving I could barely see. I tilted the watch to the sunlight and read the small message.

"To Jackson A. Chrome, Happy 16th Birthday. Love Dad." I sat the watch down. "Oh my god." I said to myself.

I may have never dated anyone but I know a little on the subject, I am in high school. It's one thing to buy me a watch. That means he wanted to get me something, a token to remember the day we got together. But this watch used to belong to him. It's his watch. If I'm correct, which I'm pretty sure I am, when a guy gives a girl his watch it can mean one thing. He's sprung. Been bit by the love bug. Whipped. What the actual fuck? I reread the engraving a few times. He could have given me anything in the world, why a watch? Maybe I'm just over thinking it. I tried clearing my head. I saw Jackson walking out of the diner with a middle aged man behind him. They made small talk while they approached the truck. The man waved at me and I waved back from inside the truck. Jackson went to the back of his truck and got a tool box. I watched him from the rear view mirror. He pulled out a pair of jumper cables and went back to the front of the truck. I saw the man bring his truck around to the front of Jackson's. They took a short amount of time to hook up the cables.
