Skylar's POV

Suddenly conditioning in Dallas with Stern seemed like a fantasy. Mornings before school in my house are beyond hectic, it being the first day made it even worse. Carly and I have a Royal Rumble in the hallway to get to the bathroom first. Christian goes through three phases; pretending to be sick, hiding from mom, and then crying. Kyle and dad are the only rides so we have to be on their time. Kyle takes like five minutes to get ready and dad has to be at school early to unlock the locker rooms. I am not a morning person, and trying to avoid Jackson is just making getting ready all that worse.

"Skye I'm leaving, like now!" Kyle shouted into the hallway.

I placed my grips into my gym bag and rolled my eyes. He's been leaving like now for ten minutes. I continued packing my bag, outside my door sounded like a war-zone.

"Skylar, your brother's ready!" my dad shouted up the stairs.

"I'm coming!" I shouted back annoyed.

I threw what else I thought I might need into my bag and zipped it up. I descended the stairs with backpack over my shoulders and the duffle bag in my hand. The bathroom light was still on so I wasn't the last one down. Around the corner from the stairs stood my dad pouring a cup of coffee and my mom texting as she helped Christian put on his coat.

"Okay, three cars transporting a family of six isn't cutting it." I said dropping my gym bag on the tile floor. I shot my mom a glare for giggling at my crankiness, she thinks it's cute.

I grabbed a cup of yogurt from the fridge and walking around while eating it. Christian nearly knocked me over running out of the kitchen.

"Seriously, I can not wake up at six every morning and then be expected to be ready in thirty minutes. I repeat, three cars isn't enough for this family."

"Jacks got a truck." Dad nodded his head at me.

"Yes, I'm aware. I said family for a reason, I know it's early but I'm going to need you to keep up." I patted his back as I walked pass him.

"Kyle still has to wait on Carly, and your dad doesn't have to open the field house until 7:20."

"Yeah, but that still leaves me without a ride to gymnastics after school."

Mom tapped her nails on the counter while thinking of a new solution. Like me, she could be a perfectionist when least needed. No problem can go unsolved with Leah Bauer.

"Okay, well after school Carly, Kyle, and Jackson have practice at the high school. They can ride home with Jackson, you can drive Kyle's truck to the gym." she mimicked my dad by nodded at the end of her answer.

"What?!" we all looked up. Kyle got down the stairs so fast I thought he might've stomped a hole in a few of the steps. "No! My truck is my baby. We've all seen how Carly ruined her car. I don't wanna find out who's the better driver out of the two them." he pointed at me and up towards the stairs.

"Calm down, caveman. It's not like I could drive it anyway." turning my attention from Kyle I looked at dad. "Someone never taught me how to drive stick. I believe your exact words were 'Half pint, that truck would swallow you.'"

Dad and Kyle chuckled and made mom roll her eyes. She looked at the clock above the stove, she had to leave for work in five minutes and we needed to be right behind her. Jackson came around the corner, and as weird as it sounds he cleans up well. His outfit isn't all that special, but he looks nice. He had a new pair of black and gray Nike shoes, plain pair of blue jeans, and a blue and dark gray lettermen jacket from the school.

I acted liked I didn't notice him. He's like the king of awkwardness and I don't deal well with it.

"Mornin' coach, Mrs. Bauer," he smiled and sat down at the table across from where I was standing. They both greeted and carried on. He looked up at me with his annoying smirk. "Skylar." he said with a wink.
