I woke up the next morning and looked at the time to find that it was 7:30. I looked to the side of me and saw that Persia was still sleeping. I thought for a while and decided to text Julie and ask her if I could have the day off. After all, it was a rough night for the girls. I didn't want to leave them alone. So, I got my phone off the bedside table and texted Julie:
"Hi, sorry to be an inconvenience but could I please have the day off? It is important and would be really appreciated. I want to stay with my family as some stuff went down over night.
Thanks in advance,
Joe."
I sent the text and laid in bed waiting for Julie to reply.

After less than five minutes, she replied saying, "Hi Joe, hope everything is ok at home. You're not an inconvenience and won't miss anything at work. You know that I always have a plan B. It's understandable that you have a child so therefore if she needs you, you've got to be there. Take your time with your family and we'll see you when you get back.
Julie x."
I replied saying, "Thank you very much. Should be back soon enough."

It is nice to have a boss like Julie. She takes everything easy and always supports everyone. I really like working with her and I know that she will always be there for me in whatever way she can when it comes to Nicole and the rest of my family.

After that, I slowly and quietly got out of bed and went for a shower. Then I got dressed. Persia was still sleeping so I went to check on Nicole. She was also sleeping. I just stood there for a while watching her until I decided to go downstairs and have some breakfast. I made a cup of coffee and toaster waffles with jam.

Nicole's POV
I woke up and checked the time on my phone. It was 8 o'clock. I laid on my back for a while not really thinking about anything but then I remembered all the things that happened at night. I didn't want to go downstairs and face Mum and Dad so I just stayed in bed staring at the ceiling. I did so for the next ten minutes or so until I heard someone walk in my room.

It was Dad.
"You're awake." he said.
"Yes." I said quietly. I think I must've shown signs of sadness and not really wanting to talk as Dad immediately came over, sat on my bed and put his hand on me comfortingly.
"Hey, you're upset aren't you. Is it about what happened at night?" he asked with a worried brow.
I didn't say anything or make any eye contact with him.
"Talk to me please. I want to help you. That's what I'm here for." Dad said.
His words were so sweet, tears were welling up in my eyes but I was trying so hard not to let them stream down.
"There's not much to say. You already know what happened. I didn't want you to find out the bad things that have happened to me so soon though." I said sadly.
"Listen, we're your parents and we adopted you for a reason. We love you and everything that comes with you, whether it's good or bad, happy or sad, we'll help you through all of it."
"Thanks." I said with a slight smile and asked, "Is mum still sleeping? She was trying to hide her emotions but I could see that she was upset when I was telling you what happened."
"Last I checked, she was still sound asleep. Yes, she was upset but we talked about it and everything will be ok.
"I hope so. The last thing I'd want to do is bother you if it's gonna make you upset."
"Hey! What did I just tell you. We're here for you and you don't bother us. You're our daughter after all and we'll love you, no matter what. Always and forever." he said and smiled at me.
"Always and forever." I repeated after him realising where that comes from.
"Come on now. Are you coming downstairs? I'll make you some breakfast."
"Yeah, sure. I'll be down in a bit."
With that, Dad left me to get ready and went downstairs.

I went downstairs about fifteen minutes later. Dad had made me toaster waffles, some with jam and some with nutella and he made me a glass of orange juice. I hadn't realised how hungry I was as I ate my food pretty quick. Me and Dad both sat in silence while I was having my breakfast and he was finishing off his coffee. But this time, the silence was quite nice.

After breakfast, me and Dad went into the living room to watch a movie. We watched War Horse. Dad had some very interesting stories to tell throughout. They were very fascinating. They were stories about the World War that had passed on through generations of his family. History has always been one of my favourite subjects so it was interesting to listen to those stories.

Mum came down at around 10 o'clock. Dad went to join her in the kitchen while I carried on watching the film. There wasn't that long left of it.

We spent the rest of the day by staying in, watching movies and eating lots of food. We didn't talk about anything that happened over night. Dad said he didn't want to bother us about it if me and Mum didn't want to talk about it. I appreciate the respect and support this family have for me so much. I love them and I can tell that they love me too.

We ended the night by watching a film called The Darkness and had popcorn before we all went to sleep.

Hey guys!
I'm really, really sorry it's been so long. I've had so much stuff on with college and other things. I thought I could do more writing over the Christmas holidays but it's nearly the end of the second week of a three week holiday and I've only just managed to finish this chapter. Looks like this time of year is deffo not the best for writing even though I'd like it to be.
I also want to apologise if this chapter seems a bit rushed. It's taken me so long to write it but yet the time I've spent on it has not been consistent. I still hope you enjoy it.
I'm not gonna promise to update soon as I never know how that will turn out.
Thanks for all the reads, votes and comments, it really has been amazing to see all the numbers grow even though I haven't updated in a while.
I'll be back! :)
