Persia's POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. It was 7am. It was time to go and wake up Nicole. Joseph was still sound asleep so I woke him up too.
"Wake up darling, we can't be late." I said and shook him slightly.
He stired slightly and slowly opened his eyes.
"I'll wake Nicole up. You get ready." I told him before kissing him on the cheek and then leaving the room.

I entered Nicole's room. She was still sleeping. I almost felt sorry for having to wake her up. I turned on the light and walked over to her bed.
"Time to wake up sweetheart," I said to her as I shook her, the same way I did to Joseph, "You don't want to be late on your first day of school."
She neither moved nor opened her eyes.
"Nicole," I called out to her again, "wake up sweetie."
She then opened her eyes and slowly rolled over onto her back.
"I'm up." she said and then asked, "What time is it?"
"Nearly ten past seven. We have until eight to get ready and have breakfast before we have to get you to school."
"Ok."

I left Nicole to get ready and went to get ready myself. Joseph was having a shower when I entered our bedroom. I could hear him singing in the bathroom. That made me smile, just like any other time I heard him do it.
I got dressed and quickly did my hair and makeup before going downstairs.

We didn't have that much time left to be cooking anything big so I got out some bacon sandwiches ready to be warmed up for all of us. I made coffees for me and Joe. I thought I'd let Nicole decide for herself what she wanted to drink.
Five minutes later, I was joined by Nicole.
"Are you wanting one of these sandwiches or something else?" I asked her.
"I'll have a sandwich please. I'm hungry." she replied with a slight laughter.
"Ok. Would you like a drink?"
"Yeah, I'll have tea but I'll make it."
"Are you sure? I don't mind doing it."
"Mum, sit down and have your breakfast. I mean, you guys cook for me all the time. What am I gonna be like if I don't learn how to cook for myself? The least I can do is make my own cup of tea."
"Oh we don't mind doing it for you for the rest of your life." Joseph said with a smirk on his face as he walked into the kitchen.
"Oh shut up Dad." Nicole said as she ran up to him and hugged him.
They both insisted that I join in the hug, so I did.

The three of us ate breakfast talking and having a good laugh. Most of it was sarcastic jokes between Joe and Nicole. Nicole brings so much more life into this little family. I'm grateful for her being a part of us.

After breakfast, we all got our things and left the house. We got in the car still laughing.
Nicole's school was half an hour drive away but with having so much fun, the drive seemed a lot shorter. Even with all the traffic.
As we got out of the car and Nicole saw all the kids that were outside the building, I could tell that she was becoming anxious. I think Joseph noticed it too as we both walked over to stand next to her while she was sorting out her backpack.
"Everything ok love?" Joseph asked.
"Yeah. I'll be fine." she said.
"Are you sure? Do you want to have a moment?"
"No, it's ok. I'll be fine. Honest."
"Ok. Come on then, let's go in and have a look at this place."
With that, all three of us went inside the school with me on Nicole's right side and Joseph on her left.

Nicole's POV

First we had to go to the headteacher's office, sign some papers and get my schedule. Then after that, my parents had to go to a meeting with my group teacher and I had to go to my first lesson.
"Alright, what's your first lesson?" Mum asked.
"History with Mr. Ogle in room 214." I said to her as I read my schedule.
"You'll love that. You like history, don't you. Oh, and here's something from me. Your lunch money." Dad said as he handed some money to me.
"But Dad, Mum already gave me some."
"I know. But you can never have too much money for your school lunch." he said and grinned.
"Awww! You guys are too nice to me." I said and pulled them both in for a hug. I didn't care what anyone walking past thought.
"We're your parents, of course we'll be nice to you. And you've still yet to learn what else we have in store for you." Mum said.
"Right, can't wait! But now I really gotta go. And so do you." I said and laughed.
"Ok." said Dad.
I turned and started walking away and then Mum shouted to me, "Your Dad will pick you up afterwards."
I just turned my head back and smiled.

As I entered my first class, I was told to choose where I want to sit and when everyone else comes in, I would have to introduce myself. I chose to sit in the second row at the front. I never liked to sit at the very front or the back so I always chose somewhere in the middle.
Once everyone had come in and settled down, Mr. Ogle said, "Right peeps, we have a new student in the class. Would you tell us your name please?" he said and looked at me.
"Erm... my name is Nicole." I said shyly.

The rest of the day was pretty easy too for a first day at school. I had Math, English, French and Geography. At lunch I hung out with some people but I kept my distance. One of the girls I was hanging out with was also in my French and Geography. She was also in my Maths but at the time I didn't know her. Her name is Ellie. We sat at the same table in the canteen and then I went to sit next to her in classes as well.

Me and Ellie exited the school together and then I saw my Dad's car.
"And there's my Dad!" I said to Ellie.
"Alright, so I'll see you tomorrow. Do you want me to meet you somewhere? I think we have our first period together."
"Yeah, sure! Actually, let's exchange numbers and I'll let you know when I get here."
"Yeah, that's actually a great idea."
So with that, we saved each other's numbers in our phones and said bye to each other.
"I'll text you later." I said as I started walking towards Dad's car. As I got closer to it, I saw someone else sat inside it. It was Daniel. I smiled and started running towards the car. Daniel got out of the car and came towards me. As I got to him, we both hugged each other tightly.
"Hey little one! Looks like you've missed me."
"Yeah! I really have. It's been a while." I said and we both smiled at each other.
"You guys! Get in the car and hurry up before we get a sea of fans swarming this place."

Me and Daniel got in the car and Dad set off straight away.
"Anyway, what are you doing here Silly Billy Gillie?" I asked with a proud look on my face for knowing that nickname.
"YES! You go girl!" Dad exclaimed and laughed.
"And there I thought we were being nice to each other. How did you know that nickname anyway?" he asked confused.
"Are you kidding me! Everyone knows it. Maybe you shouldn't have put it out there in the public," I said and grinned, "Anyway, you never answered my question. What are you doing here?" I carried on.
"Well, you said it yourself, it's been a while. And since I was hanging out with your dad here, I thought I'd come along and see how your first day of school has gone." he said completely ignoring the part of him getting his nickname out there.
"You looked happy and looks like you've already gotten yourself a friend." Dad said and smiled proudly.
"Yeah, it was a pretty good day. And Ellie is nice. Out of all the people I hung around with, she's the one I've clicked with the most. And all the teachers seemed to go easy on me today. My History, English and French teachers are the best so far."
"Well look, I told you you'd enjoy it. It wasn't worth dreading after all, was it."
"No, it wasn't. But I only dreaded it coz it's school. No one likes going to school. I'm sure I'll change my mind about it once I get used to it. I only like it coz it's something new." I laughed and the guys laughed with me.
"What other lessons did you have today?" asked Daniel.
"Math and Geography. They were alright. Can't see them being my faves though."
"Well, if you ever struggle with those or you don't like your teachers, just come to me. Especially for Geography." he said.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah."
"I feel like I shouldn't really agree to that..."
"You feel right sweetheart. I'm telling you, you shouldn't." Dad agreed with me.

The remaining journey home consisted of me and Dad teasing Daniel. I kept calling him Silly Billy Gillie and Dad just made fun out of him the whole time. When we arrived home, Mum came to greet us all.
"So, how was your first day of school?" she asked as she hugged me.
"It was really good. I'll tell you all about it inside." I replied and hugged her back.
"If you have any homework, do it now because we want you free for the evening." Mum said.
"Alright, I'll do it now. Wait why now? What are we doing later?"
"You'll see." Mum said as me, her, Dad and Daniel went inside the house.
And with that, I was left feeling intrigued.
