Tris thinks of the important events in her and Christina's life just before they are to walk down the aisle.
A short, sappy contemporary one shot in third person.

Tris is dressed in white. She hasn't seen Christina yet, because their mothers insist it's bad luck to see each other before the wedding. In all honesty, Tris wants it to be a surprise. Christina a doll on a regular day, but this is their wedding. She can only imagine what she looks like.

As Tris's mother pins her daughter's golden hair into a bun like she did several years ago when she was sitting on a stool at sixteen, Tris thinks long and hard and reminisces about everything. She remembers when she met Christina, when she fell madly in love with her, when they first had sex, when they decided it was time to marry. It all plays through her head like a beautiful film.

And she can't stop thinking.

Tris sees her for the first time; the beauty standing by the mystery novels in the library. She must work there. She's wearing the standard library uniform and stacking books from a cart. Tris has the urge to go up to her and pretend she knows nothing about books but her heart catches in her throat. She scurries away when the girl catches her eye.

Damn her insecurity. Damn it to hell.

Tris returns the library books she checked out, and of course the girl she so desperately wants to speak to is there to grab them from her. Tris stutters when the girl asks her if she needs any help. She just shakes her head. Her wandering eye sees the girl's name tag. Christina. What a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.

Tris snaps out of her vague trance and shakes her head. She flees the building, cheeks flushed. The next thing she knows, Christina is chasing her down in the parking lot. Tris gets excited for a moment but her smile falls when Christina hands her the library card she left on the counter and walks back inside.

It starts to rain and Tris curses.

She finally does it. Tris asks Christina on a date. It took weeks to perfect her speech, but she does it. Christina smiles at her and nods over a pile of books. They both wait for Christina to finish her shift, and they go to a coffee shop nearby to chat.

Tris realizes this girl is perfect. She has it all. She's beautiful, smart, witty, and has an infectious laugh that Tris can't get over. She finds herself falling for her. Hard.

When they both realize the sun is gone, they stand up, and Christina gives Tris her phone number with the promise of seeing her again--and not just in the library.

After four more successful dates, the two are finally together at last. They've hit it off immediately. They go out for more than coffee. They do things together and laugh and have a good time. Tris is finally happy after two failed relationships. She realizes that she may have just about found a keeper.

Christina doesn't abuse Tris. She never yells or shouts or dares to raise a hand to Tris. And Tris is grateful. She still has scars, inside and out, from other relationships. But Christina is gentle. She's never raised her voice. She's sensitive and understanding. That's all Tris needs.

Tris introduces Christina to her mother. Natalie Prior comes from an old-fashioned family but she's very accepting and supportive of her daughter and her girlfriend. She smiles, shakes Christina's hand, and welcomes her.
A breath of relief escapes Tris's mouth. Christina kisses her lips and they celebrate this milestone in their lives.

Tris and Christina spend their first New Years together watching the ball drop in New York City on TV. Well, not really. Their Christmas tree is still up and shining bright lights upon their bare bodies as they join together on their couch. They kiss and touch each other soothingly on this cold winter night.

When the ball finally drops at midnight, they make love for the first time, and it's the most beautiful moment they've ever shared.

June 14th, 2021
The two women move in together. Christina's apartment is much bigger than Tris's so it's ideal that they live there. Their one-year anniversary has just passed, and they celebrate by making their commitment to each other.

It's a breeze for Tris to settle in. Her old home is full of evil demons and her lost screams, anyway. This place, with her beautiful girlfriend, is comforting and warm. It's somewhere Tris knows she won't be tossed into a wall or kicked. She's safe at last.

February 5th, 2022
They've had their first serious argument. It is more than "no, that's my toothbrush!" It isn't as bad as Tris getting her head slammed into a wall. Christina would never do that. But it's still really bad.

Tris comes home and finds Christina asleep on the couch. She moves to kiss her awake for dinner but notices she smells different. Much different. Not like any perfume she or Tris has ever worn. Tris grows angry and violently shakes her awake.

She demands to know what's going on. Christina, drowsy, asks what she means. Tris points out the unfamiliar scent and begins to cry. She accuses Christina of cheating on her. When Christina says that Tris freaking out for nothing and she's recently started wearing new perfume she thought Tris would like, Tris remains silent. Christina is hurt and angry at this assumption and slams their bedroom door shut.

She makes Tris sleep on the couch that night.

February 7th, 2022
They reconcile. Tris admits she was wrong and stupid and was making huge assumptions. Christina forgives her and kisses her tenderly.
Tris loves the new perfume. It makes her want her that night. Christina happily allows her to have her.

August 2nd, 2022
It's time, Tris realizes. It's time she and Christina finally make everything official and set it in literal stone. She buys a ring and takes Christina on a date to a park near a quiet pond. They feed the ducks and have a nice dinner on a picnic blanket. She pulls out the box and Christina tears up. And she says yes.

December 12th, 2022
Today is the day. Tris snaps back to the present. It is the day of her and Christina's two and-a-half year anniversary, and their wedding day. Tris's mother has finished her beautiful hair and is fixing the final touches of her simple makeup. A tear falls from Tris's eye and her mother gently wipes it away.

"You're so beautiful," Natalie says, kissing her forehead. "Are you ready?"

Tris smiles and breathes shakily, holding back the butterflies in her stomach.

"As I'll ever be."

The Wedding March plays and Tris's father gives her away. Christina is standing there, in a beautiful white gown, waiting for her beautiful bride. She's even more beautiful and perfect than Tris ever imagined. Knowing she's about to be wed to this woman in a matter of minutes makes her heart flip.

They make another memory. They make another milestone. They say "I do."
