Another Chance

Chapter 17

Draco and Hermione went back to their dorm to start to think up some ideas for the balls. As they were walking back Hermione thought to herself. Why was he asking me all of these questions about Fred? Draco should know that I see him as a friend and nothing more. Hermione did not even realize that they were back at their common room. Draco summoned a house elf and asked them to bring some food for Hermione and himself since they were missing dinner.

"Alright first thing first, we need to figure out what holidays we want the balls to be around." Draco said plopping down on the couch.

"Well I was thinking about Halloween as one of them." Hermione stated.

"Yeah, I like that I idea. The other ball can be around Christmas. But it could be before Christmas break." Draco said.

Hermione nodded in agreement. She summoned a quill and parchment. She wanted to write all of their ideas down so they did not forget them. They talked all night about the balls. They have decided that the winter ball will be the more dress up nice one and the Halloween ball can be the fun one. Hermione saw the time and said good night to Draco.

*Two weeks past*

Hermione had started to get in a routine since she had been back at Hogwarts. Every day Fred would walk her to her classes and at lunch she would hang out with Ginny and Pansy. Then either during or after dinner Draco and her would go back to their dorm planning the balls. They both were really excited. Professor McGonagall would be announcing the Halloween ball this Friday.

As Hermione left her last class of the week she saw that Fred was not there waiting for her. It felt weird not walking with Fred to the Great Hall. She felt a little lonely. He would always make her laugh and smile in between classes. Mostly when one of the teachers are giving her a hard time. Fred always knew how to cheer her up. When she entered the Great Hall she saw George sitting there but no Fred. Hermione walked over and sat by George and Harry.

"Hey do you know where Fred is?" Hermione asked.

George just shook his head and said,

"No. He probably got held up by a professor or something."

"Yeah you are right. Anyway, how was everyone's classes?" Hermione asked.

Everyone either said good, or alright, or what George likes to say 'they are class, nothing interesting happens in them.' That usually gets everyone laughing. Draco tapped Hermione shoulder and pointed to the front. Hermione got up and headed with Draco to make the announcement.

"If we could have all of your attention. Thank you." Hermione started.

Everyone stared at Hermione and Draco. By then Fred has walked in and took a seat across from his twin. He felt bad not getting to Hermione in time to walk her to the Great Hall like they have been but Professor Slughorn asked him to say back to talk.

"So Headmistress McGonagall, wanted us the head boy and girl to announce that Hogwarts is having a Halloween ball." Draco announced.

Everyone went into a fit of whispers and talking. You could not hear what Hermione was saying. Hermione stood there and shouted,

"EVERYONE LISTEN UP! The Halloween ball is not a formal ball. Since it is around Halloween you are allowed to wear a costume for it. The years are like any ball fourth through seventh years only unless you get asked by an older student. There will be a costume contest as well. The best costume will get a prize or something. We are still figuring that one out. But for now that is all the details we have. We will tell you more as time goes one. You all may go back to your dinner." Hermione finished and walked back to Gryffindor table.

She smiled toward Fred and started to eat her dinner. Hermione went to the library to get some reading done. She did not know the time was until Madam Prince kicked her out of the library. Hermione started to walk back to her dorm when she hit into a figure.

"I am so sorry." The male voice said.

Hermione looked up from the floor and saw that it was Blaise standing there. He helped Hermione up and brushed her off.

"It's alright Blaise. Where are you going anyway?" Hermione asked curiously.

"I was heading to the head's dorm to hand with Draco. Where were you coming from? "Blaise stated.

"I was going there also. I got kicked out of the library. "Hermione stated.

They walked in silence as they headed to the head boy and girls dormitory. Blaise let Hermione entered first. She could hear laugher coming from the common room. As they go near they saw that Draco was talking to Harry and the Weasley twins. Hermione smiled at them and said,

"Now this is a sight to see."

The three boys turned around to face Hermione. Fred smiled toward Hermione and said,

"What are you talking about Mione?"

"I'm talking about three Gryffindors talking to one Slytherin, not just any Slytherin a Malfoy at that." Hermione said jokingly.

"Hahaha Granger. We could say the same to you." Draco said look toward Blaise.
