Mark closes his laptop gently when he realizes that there would be no response and he stops himself from sighing as it was to be expected. He'd had high hopes considering this was the first person he'd ever had the guts to message.
He laid down onto his bed and lifted his arms to cover his eyes.
It was one of the few days that he was surrounded by nothing but silence as everyone who stayed in the house was either out or just too "sick" of him to stay around.
At times like this, he'd continue writing or go to the nearby dance studio, but he didn't feel like doing anything.
He just wanted to mope around in his embarassment.
He closed his eyes.
But just as quickly, the moment was shattered as his name was called by one of his elder sisters.
Mark sighed. He didn't really feel like getting up and facing his sister with such a flustered face.
So he turned his back in a way to make it appear as if he were sleeping.
When the door slowly opened, he closed his eyes.
"Mark?"
He doesn't respond. He has to hold it in. He even controlled his breathing to make it more realistic. It wasn't the first time he fake slept on them.
"Your laptops open. Oo~ What's this?"
Immediately, the younger boy shot up, his arms and hands grabbing for the device as quickly as possible.
She giggled at the action.
"I asked you not to look through my things," the boy says softly without so much as glancing at his sister.
"And I called you."
"And?"
She tuts in annoyance and crosses her arms over her chest.
"Why did you call me?" He asks hesitantly, unsure whether she would reply or not. Between his two elder sisters, she was the most unpredictable.
"Who knows," she shrugged.
"Did you really call me for nothing? They said you can't do that anymore..." He trails off. His sister never listened to their parents. Her reason was because they never listened to any of their kids.
"They aren't here" she says.
"A- Amber.." He mumbles softly.
She sighs and steps out of his room with much difficulty, "Just come down okay?"
He nods obediently.
He never minded his siblings ordering him around. It was a change from the yelling. Glancing around, he places his laptop on his desk and stands up before going on after her.
He walked slowly because as long as he was coming, she didn't mind how long he took.
As he reaches the bottom step, he peeks around one of the walls to check if she was in that specific room.
She wasn't though.
"Amber?" He calls out hesitantly.
He gets no answer.
"Amber?" He tries again.
He jumps in surprise when a hand hits his back.
He turns around to look at who it was and his eyes soften.
"Scardy Cat," she giggled, "You should stop watching those three a.m. videos."
"They're addictive," he admits, not feeling up for denying it today.
