To New Beginnings [Jasper Hale stand-alone story]

Chapter 10: Training

When Jasper pulled his car on the side of the road behind Edwards before we could get out he reached over and placed his hand on my arm.
     "Are you sure about this Hannah?"
I nodded my head.
     "I'll be okay Jasper. Besides I want to see how you guys fight". I said pulling the headband into my hair. Jasper smiled and both of us got out of his car.
     "As long as you only watch us". He said reaching for my hand. I smirked.
     "Got it".
As we neared the field where everyone was including the rest of Jasper's family,who I hadn't meant yet, and...a few wolves? What the hell?! I looked up at Jasper who was glaring at one wolf in particular.
     "What-"
Jasper moved his hand to my waist making me jump a little. Just as Bella walked from Edward over to me. She placed a hand on my shoulder.
    "What the hell are they?!"
Bella smiled nervously. "Jacob is a werewolf".
I looked from Bella to Jasper back to my cousin. Jacob my childhood friend was a...werewolf.
    "Wow. Vampires and now werewolves I think I need to sit down". Jasper picked me up and brought me over to Emmett's jeep that was sitting a few inches from where everyone else was. He sat me on the hood of the car and Bella sat next to me.
    "Thanks". I said to Jasper. He smiled and leaned in to kiss my forehead.
    "Watch her for me, Bella?" He asked my cousin. Bella smiled and put her arm around me.
     "She's in good hands". Bella said. "I promise Jasper". Jasper smiled and let go of my hand and walked over to his family and the wolves.

When Bella told me that Jasper knew a lot about newborns she wasn't kidding. As I watched everyone try to beat Jasper they couldn't. He knew every little trick and tip to defeating them. And they were so fast I didn't know how they could see one or the other coming. It was incredible to watch.
While the rest of the Cullen's continued on training I looked over to see a female who looked a little older then Alice with long burnt red hair walk over to me and Bella.
    "I never got to introduce myself". She smiled. "I'm Esme. Jasper's adoptive mother". She definitely gave off a motherly vibe. In a good way. I smiled up at Esme and took her hand.
    "Nice to meet Esme. I'm Hannah".
    "I'm so glad that my son has found someone like you". She said glancing over Jasper.
    "You are?"
She nodded. "Jasper's first few years as a newborn were hard on him and he never fully recovered from that experience". She said with such sorrow. "But then Alice saw you coming into his life and he changed". She looked back up at me.
    "He became happier and started enjoying life again". She added.
As Esme continued on talking to me I glanced away from her and over at Jasper. I had made him again? It seemed Esme and the rest of the Cullen's were thrilled that Jasper had meant me. I had made him happy again and do have done something like that made me smile.
Between my mom and step dad I couldn't seem to make either of them happy for so long and now to have only known Jasper a month and seen from everyone around me just how much he's changed because of me...well is made me happy.
      "Jasper, how do you know so much about newborns?" Bella asked him just as he came over to check up on me. He smiled up at Bella then glanced at me.
     "Were both curious.." I said hoping that he'd share if I was interested in it. Which I was.
Jasper let out a sigh and lifted up both sleeves and revealed sets of teeth marks running all along both his forearms.
     "What the hell?!" I said in utter shock. Jasper gripped onto my hand with his and began his tale.
      "When I was major back in the confederate army I was on my way back to camp when I came across three beautiful women. They seemed like they were travelers or maybe lost. I asked them if i could be of any use to them and before I could even process what happened the one called Maria bit me".
Jasper stopped for a moment to look up at me. I was doing my best to contain my nerves and he could sense it, but nodded for him to go on".
      "I don't remember that much about my transformation. But I do remember the pain and how I begged for her to kill me.
After all the pain was over Maria had told me what I had become. She told me that this was my fate. That I was born for this. At first I didn't believe her. I didn't want to be this monster, but she made me embrace it and I turned into her puppet".
My hand gripped Jasper tighter.
      "What did she force you to do?" Bella asked.
      "Maria wanted to build an army of new born vampires".
      "Why?" I asked interjecting myself into the conversation.
      "In our first few months after the change we are at our strongest, but also at our most deadliest. Maria wanted the ultimate weapons so she used me. She told me that I'd be helping her and I thought that we had something special so I agreed".
I placed my other hand over his. "Jasper".
     "I turned innocent humans into monsters. And after a while I stopped. I could see just how power hungry she was getting and so I left her. I was just her puppet and nothing more".
     "For months I was wondering around. Looking for a place to stay when Alice found me. She told me that she and a few others were living among humans peacefully".
I smiled. "She saved you". I said. Jasper smiled and brushed his lips against my hand.
   "And you brought me back to life". Jasper replied looking straight at me. I blushed a deep shade of red and glanced away from him. Damn him and his smooth talking. He knew just what to say to me to make my heart flutter. But even still....I brought meaning back into Jaspers life and that made me feel important.

            Training was done for the day and I knew that Charlie would be wondering where me and Bella were so I texted him telling him that we were with the Cullens. I knew that he wouldn't be so surprised by it, but I also knew that he wouldn't be too happy about the idea either.
Charlie wasn't too thrilled about Bella dating one of them, and well he probably wouldn't be so thrilled on the idea of me dat- possibly dating one.
When it came to me and Jasper and out relationship... I didn't know if we were dating or not. I mean we both admitted how we felt about one another, but either of us made it official by asking the other out. I figured maybe Jasper would have asked me, but then again he seemed like the kind of guy who would give you more freedom, but I wasn't so sure.
Maybe I was overthinking this too much. I looked up from the ground to see Jacob shirtless leaning up against his red car. He glared at Jasper who had his arm on my waist. I glanced at Jakes expression and shook my head at him. I knew what he was going to say and I didn't want to hear it from. Especially after learning that he was a werewolf.
He didn't have any right to tell me that Jasper wasn't good for me when he wasn't exactly human either.
     "I don't want to hear it Jake". I said as Jasper ushered us along to his silver car. Jake crossed his arms over his perfectly shaped abs.  
     "How long have you known?" He asked.
I let out a sigh. "Since the night of graduation. Jasper told me". I answered him as I could see that he and Jasper were locked in eye contact.
    "I also know that your a werewolf". I added. "Which doesn't give you the right to tell me that Jasper isn't good for me when you yourself aren't good for me!" I glared at him. Jacob leaned up from his car.
     "I was trying to protect you". Jacob said making me roll my eyes at him. That line again.
     "Jake I can protect myself and I trust Jasper to protect me. More then I'll ever trust you to do". I opened the door of Jasper car. Then I looked back at Jake.
    "Id leave me and Bella alone for a while if I were you". I added getting in and slamming the door behind me. Jasper didn't hesitate after I called out Jacob. He too got in the car and we sped off away from the woods.
