That night I could barely sleep. I was completely fixed on if Jasper was going to be okay or if Bella would be warm enough in this winter blizzard. It had started snowing for a bit as soon as Jasper dropped me off and I knew that high up in the mountains where my cousin was it was worse. I knew it was so late but I wanted to hear from her so I picked up my phone and dialed her number.
"Hannah". It wasn't Bella's voice that answered, but Jasper adoptive brother Edward.
"Is everything alright?"
"I was just checking up on my cousin. How is she?"
Edward hesitated for a moment making me even more freaked out.
"She's doing fine. She's getting plenty warm and that's what counts". I remember Jasper had said that Jacob was tagging along with them and that wolves were the warmest supernatural creatures on the planet so I knew that it wasn't Edward warming her up. And that must have ticked him off. Especially since Jacob liked Bella and that Edward could read his thoughts.
"It's not the ideal situation for you though, but glad to hear that your trying to keep your cool. Give her my best and keep her safe".
"With my life. Thank you for checking in Hannah". Edward thanked me. I smiled.
"No problem". I hung up the phone and let out a sigh. I knew Edward would protect Bella with his own life. He loved her and she loved him and that was a bond that you could never break.Charlie had decided that to wake me up bright and early the net day was a good idea. I had barely slept a wink last night and I was already up at the crack of dawn. I let out a groan and dressed in a pair sweat pants and an old band tee then meant my uncle downstairs for an early early breakfast.
"Is there a reason why you woke me up this early?" I asked still half asleep.
"You and me are going hiking". Charlie said as he looked through the newspaper. Hiking?! No no. Of all the days he had to suggest hiking this was the day. Jasper had clearly told me to stay inside where it was safe and to look after Charlie. And that's the exact opposite of what was going on now! I shook my head and sat up from the table.
"I can't!" I blurted out without giving him a reason. Charlie raised his thick eyebrow at me.
"Why not? The Cullen's are busy today so you don't have an excuse". He said. He got me there, but I had to think of something and fast.
"Actually.." I looked over my the phone hanging on the wall. "I do".
"Oh really?" He was getting suspicious.
I nodded my head.
"I-umm..I promised Bella that I talk to my mom". I said. That was the only lie I could think of. And it was sorta true. Bella and Jasper had told me that I needed to have a heart to heart with my mom and I knew it too.
"Bells did mention that you two were not doing so good, but-"
"Better to do it sooner rather then later". I added with a twinkle in my eyes. Charlie sighed and nodded to the phone. I smiled and grabbed the phone then began to dial Bella's number as Charlie left the room to get ready for work instead of hiking.
I wasn't sure if my cousin would pick up since I was pretty that she was either still sleeping or that the battle had began. I let a sigh and continued to listen to her phone ringing.
After a few more rings her voice mail box came in and I just left her a message asking if everything was alright and if Edward had heard from Jasper. I had been trying to occupy my mind with other thoughts, but each and everyone of them kept coming right back to him. I knew that Jasper could hold his own, but that didn't mean that I still wasn't worried. I let out a sigh as Charlie came back into the room.
"Not answering?"
I shook my head. "I'll try again in a few". I said pulling my hair back into a braid.
"Okay". He said. "I'll be down at the station. If you need anything call". I nodded my head as he opened the front door and went to get into his car. Then I went straight back into my room and flipped through a few college booklets.

Three and half hours had passed since Charlie had left I was completely on edge. I wanted so badly to know what was going on with the fight, but I did not want to upset Jasper or Bella by going near it. I also knew that I was perfectly safe here by myself and that no newborn vampires knew where I was. So that made me feel better. I just wished that somebody would texted me by now giving me an update. Both Jacob and Jasper offered to. But apart of me knew that they were busy protecting my cousin. And I didn't want to be a distraction to either of them.
I decided to go back upstairs and try to get in a nap since I didn't sleep so well the night before. But as I tried to get so rest I was a waken by a knock coming from my door.
I wasn't so sure who it was so I grabbed my baseball bat and a container of pepper spray that Charlie gave me when I got here. I then went straight downstairs to answer the door. As I pulled the door back I was greeted by a tan guy that looked like Jacob but it wasn't Jake. He looked a lot older then Jake. He didn't look so happy to be here.
"Are you Hannah?" He asked me. I nodded my head as he eyed the baseball bat. I quickly put it behind me.
"Yeah. Sorry about that". I apologized. The man smiled.
"It's alright". Then his smile vanished. "There's something I need to tell you. It's Jacob". My eyes widened.
"Jacob? What happened?"
"A new born got his hands on Jacob and broke his arm. He wants to see you".Sorry for lack of updates. Schools been a bit crazy and I'm working on a side project with some internet friends so yeah.
