Let me start off by saying I could care less if white girls wears corn rows.
The problem comes when they rename the style *boxer braids*.
Or say #whitegirlsdoitbetter
The style is suddenly trendy and stylish, and they've been reinvented. Take a seat, Becky, black people have been wearing this style for hundreds of years.A Native American headdress is important to their culture. It's a badge of honor. So for a non Native American to wear that is disrespectful and cultural appropriation.
But... Aren't we supposed to share culture???
I'm all for cultural appreciation, but there is a line in the sand. Not Appropriation
Eating food
Speaking a languageAppropriation
Wearing articles of clothing that have religious and or cultural value*
Wearing jewelry that has religious and or cultural value*
Wearing a bindi (or any other facial decorations of that kind)*
Taking someone's culture and renaming it or acting like you invented it*If you are not part of that religion or culture
See where I'm going with this?
