Cody------ ANDREW GARFIELD!!! *.* how hot is he???!!
Chapter eight : Double fudge
“What do you think I should gift Danni for her birthday?” I asked as I leaned and tapped on Lisa’s book. I was helping her with her homework. Books and papers were tossed around in a mess around us on the floor. Beth mumbled something lazily, snuggling closer to Jake while he flicked through TV channels.
“What? I didn’t hear you.”
“I don’t know... my brain’s not functioning right now.” Beth mumbled squishing her face in Jake’s chest.
Lisa looked up from her book. “Why don’t you gift her... a doll? I would like a doll for my birthday.”
I laughed and ruffled her hair. “You already have a dozen dolls in your room.”
Danni’s birthday was on Friday that meant I had three days to come up with something. We could throw her a surprise party, nothing huge though. Just our little group of friends. I smiled at that thought. We had friends now. We won’t be classified as loners anymore.
I pulled out my cell phone going through my contacts to text Jess Cody Aaron about the plan. I frowned when I couldn’t find Josh’s number under J but realised we never actually exchanged numbers. Lisa tugged at my sleeve, her big eyes danced with excitement. “Anna! I have an idea!”
“What is it Lis?”
“Um... You could get a plain white T-shirt and-and cover it with colourful hand prints!”
“That sounds cool! Great idea Lis!”
Jake high fived Lisa. “My daughter is a genius. She got that from her dad.”
Beth snorted and mumbled something which suspiciously sounded like ‘as if’.
Jake elbowed his wife in her stomach. “Hey! I heard that. Lisa’s totally got brains from me okay...”
Lisa and I giggled as the couple bickered, totally ignoring us. My phone rang and I distractedly picked it up without seeing the caller ID.
“Hello?”
“We are throwing a surprise party for Danni?” Jess’s voiced boomed on the other line. I rolled my eyes, this girl needed to work on her greeting skills.
“Good morning to you too Jess. And yes, we are. I thought it’d be a good idea since this time we don’t have to celebrate it with just the three us. I texted Cody and Aaron too.”
“Oh! That’d be fun. What are you getting her for her birthday? I was thinking of buying a pair of earrings I saw her eyeing when we were at the mall last time.”
“Cool. I will be hand printing a white shirt with bright colours... Lisa’s idea.” From the corner of my eye I saw Beth waving her hands frantically. What? I mouthed.
Beth yelled, “I want to tell you something!”
“Uh Jess I’m going to have to call you later okay?”
“Sure," Jess said and hung up. I scrunched up my nose. I never understood why people hung up the phone without saying bye. Shaking my head I looked at Beth, her eyes narrowed at me and she was smiling from ear to ear. Not in the cute kind of way though. Creepy was the word. It was her I-am-up-to-something face.
“What?” I asked warily because the last time she looked at me like that I was forced into the makeover thing right before the summer because apparently it was my senior year and I shouldn’t be parading around with a moustache and bushy eyebrows.
