CHAPTER nineteen:  A very communicative relationship

"LOL!  That is sooo damn funny!" Jake laughed slapping his knee, leaning back on the couch. It was another one of the 'The Simpsons' episode on TV.

"LOL? Really? Aren't you too old to be saying that?" I chuckled at his offended face.

"Old?  W-T-F! Who are you calling old, woman? You know my price in the market is higher than the Buckingham palace."

I don't know why but that sentence reminded me of Josh... That was something he would have said. Josh and his big ego. I shook my head pushing him out of my head.

"My husband is delusional, my sister is stupid. It's just me and Lisa, the only sane one's in this family." Beth said flicking through the channels and finally settling on a news channel.

"Hey!" Jake and I exclaimed in unison. Why was I stupid? Before I could argue anymore over this, the news on the TV caught my eye. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Beth raise her hand to change the channel.

"No no, wait. I want to watch this."

"Chris Lawrence, the star of 'It's a teen thing' and son of Hollywood's most famous actors Richard and Megan Lawrence, is in the spotlight again. But this time it is worse than the last. Chris 17, the future of Hollywood industry, was already on probation for drunk and driving is now accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a female reporter. According to our sources, Chris had been smoking marijuana and was in possession of paraphernalia. He 'seemed completely out of it'. The star is said to have—

"Change it plea-"

"Shh sh! Let me hear it."

I waved my hand distractedly in Jake's direction and watched pictures of Chris Lawrence, his face hidden by a hoodie and his bodyguards protecting him from the paparazzi. Then there were some more of him looking utterly pissed pointing a finger threateningly at a blonde twenty-something woman, probably the reporter. Though the picture was a bit grainy and not many details could be made out of it, I could clearly see that the girl looked anything but scared.

I mean if a high on weed Chris Lawrence was all up in my face looking like he wanted to kill me... I would have shat my pants. Puberty had hit him hard. He looked like a 25 year old and everything about him screamed 'Bad Boy'. He was handsome, charismatic and everything that comes along these adjectives. Of course, he was all that because his parents were like freaking Greek gods. Richard Lawrence, also called the god of acting was the hottest 43 year old.

Then there was his mother- Megan Lawrence was like the Aphrodite, beautiful, flawless- she was one of the best female actresses and mould of the perfect human being. I had watched most of her films and completely adored her. I just couldn't understand what went wrong with their kid.

"—Lawrence claims that this was all a set up and that the accusations by Kelly R, the reporter, are false. The Hollywood's golden couple is convinced that their son is innocent in all of this and is doing everything that they can to help him get out of this. We just have one message for you Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence- You can run, you can hide but you can't escape from the truth."

And I thought my life sucked. I whistled. "Wow, drama much?" Beth and Jake had their eyes stilled glued to the TV which now showed highlights of yesterdays football match.

Jake shook his head and looked at me. "I don't think he did it and he is right. This might be a set up. Chris already was in a deep shit and he knew that. What sane person would do something like that?"

"Well he looked stoned. He probably wasn't aware of what he was doing. Poor Megan and Richard. You spend your entire life building up this empire, reputation, name and all for your kids and then they ruin it with just a blow. Does he know how lucky he is that his father is Richard Lawrence and his mother Megan Lawrence? Today's kids..." I trailed off thinking about how different these celebrity kids were from the normal ones.
