Chapter Twenty: Dinner with the Lawrence?

This was not fair. The anger and annoyance I felt towards Aaron turned into guilt. But how could he have been so engrossed? He wasn't even aware of what was happening around him- that I had been almost talking to myself for past one hour till Josh arrived.

"What's wrong?" Josh asked settling Lisa down on the floor.

He was trying to be cute in his own Aaron-way but... how was I suppose to know that he was planning a date?

I ran my palm over my face and groaned. "He had googled 'Keep your girl happy-Ideas for perfect dates' or something like that. That's what he was doing the whole time. I am such a bitch sometimes. I should have asked him first instead of kicking him out of here."

"What?" I asked when Josh looked at me weirdly and didn't say anything.

"Nothing," he said avoiding my eyes and watched Lisa stick the bikini photo on my wall.

"Spill it Josh."

He shrugged. "It's just... I mean... he ignored you the entire time because he was searching ideas to keep his girl happy? Don't you think that's...? Ironic. I don't know. He wants to keep you happy by ignoring you? Doesn't make sense to me. You have a right to be angry."

I went to sit on my computer chair, spun it around thinking about what Josh just said. He was right. That doesn't make any sense. I mean, that was sweet of Aaron, he wanted to keep me happy and plan perfect dates. But he had ignored me... that wasn't right, right? But then was it right of me to kick him out? I remembered his face when I told him to go. He looked... hurt.

Arrgh!

"Let's go down. Dinner must be ready." Lisa skipped to me smiling.

I took her hand and we went down Josh following us. I stopped as my eyes fell on Jake and Beth. Everything was fine again between them as I expected. They can't be mad at each other for long, I knew it. Right now they were laughing hysterically, Beth was leaning against the counter for support and Jake was waving the spatula in the air, the sauce dropping on the floor.

"Whats-his-name actually thought he had a shot with you. If I recall it right he asked... no he yelled, 'YOU ARE GOING TO THE DANCE WITH ME AND THAT'S THAT! " Jake shouted.

"I remember how you asked me. What were you thinking standing like that outside the cafe I worked wearing a green wig and a rose in your mouth?! Do you know how hard it was to say yes while laughing?"

Idiots!

Josh chuckled beside me making the couple aware of our presence. They both smiled sheepishly. "Oh hey guys."

"I am starving," I said taking my usual seat. Josh sat beside me and Lisa next to him. Beth placed the plates and bowls before taking her seat.

"Why didn't Aaron stay for dinner? When I asked him he said nothing and looked like he was in a hurry to go somewhere," said Beth as she served herself and passed the bowl to me.

I almost hit my head on the table. Aaron was in a hurry because his girlfriend told him to get lost. Not exactly... but yeah.

"Annabel kicked him out of the house. She screamed at him and told him she would never hang out with him again and... Yeah that's pretty much it." Josh shook his head in disapproval, faking seriousness. Prick. Just a minute ago he said I had a right to be angry!

I smacked his head hard and smirked as he groaned rubbing his head.

"You broke up with Aaron? Why?! What happened?! What did he do? Tell me all the juicy details!" Jake rambled and I was worried for a second about how much he sounded like a girl and also his excitement over the thought that Aaron and I broke up.
