Chapter eleven: Disaster date

Women. Us women can tolerate high degree of pain. If we could bear the pain each month, for five days, for the most of our life, or the pain of delivering a six to eight pounds baby after more than twenty four hours of labour pains... then why couldn’t I bear the pain from walking around in heels for freaking two hours?!

It should be nothing compared to delivering a baby right?!  But I couldn’t take it anymore!

“This is why I don’t wear heels! Why did you make me?!” I whined looking over the racks at Jess. She just rolled her eyes and continued with her dress search.

Danni, Jess and I were at the mall to spend some girl time because we hadn’t since a long time. Also, Jess wanted a dress for her cousin’s wedding. Oh and did I mention, they made me wear freaking heels! Heels and I don’t get along. I would prefer sandals, converse or anything over heels.

“Stop whining,” Danni muttered pointing out a comfy golden couch near the counter. I rushed to it like my life depended on it. I let out a sigh and smiled the second my bum touch the soft couch. Ah... Heaven.

I checked my phone to find a new text message from Aaron.

Still at the mall?

Smiling I texted back:

Yep. My feet are killing me. My friends are evil, they made me wear heels. And it doesn’t help that I am in need of a greesy burger. -_-

My phone buzzed not a minute after I pressed sent.  Just as I was about to open it, my phone was snatched from my hands. I looked up to see Danni and Jess, disapproving looks on their faces.

“No talking to Aaron today,” Danni said pocketing my phone in her purse. Aw man, why?

“Okay okay, but you have to get out of here. I am not going to be dragged around anymore.” I said, already out of the store.

“It’s like hanging at the mall with a kid...” Jess muttered.

“And I heard that.”

My friends smiled at me sweetly, weaving our hands in each others. We headed to the food court without much ado as my stomach growled nonstop for two minutes.

As soon as we found a place, Jess and Danni let out overly girly squeals. "Tell us about Aaron!"

I blushed taking a bite of my burger, cheese oozing out. Oh man, if this isn't heaven, I don't know what is. "What's there to tell?" I wiped the tissue on my mouth, setting down the burger, "I mean yes, we've been on so many dates... but he hasn't asked me out yet." I frowned looking down. Let's face it-- Aaron wasn't the most expressive guy. Also, he doesn't seem to know or understand my feelings. It was like he was oblivious to... everything and everyone actually.

Danni patted my arm. "He will, trust me. Aaron is different. I think he's just waiting for the perfect time or something."

Jess snorted. "Sure. You guys haven't even kissed right? And you've been on like what-- ten dates? Perfect time? Is date thirty going to be perfect enough?" Jess rolled her eyes when Danni shushed her.

"She's right Danni." I shook my head. There was no doubt Aaron was the sweetest guy and I liked him but I couldn't figure out just how deep my feelings were for him and vice versa. Why can't life be just like--two plus two? Why does it have to be-- 53.28 x 13 + (47\2) ?

You get my point right?

“So...” I rubbed my hands together mischievously, “what exactly is going on between you and Cody?”
